What are my chances (UVA, UNC)?

Transfering after freshman year from Sewanee (Univ. of the South)

College GPA- ~3.3 (pretty hard course load, several 200 and 300 level courses)
High school GPA- 3.45 (includes 25 college credit hours)
SAT- Took it once, got 1380 (660 math, 720 verbal)
National Merit semi-finalist, good chance at finalist
EC- Community service, doing some work for a non-profit, etc.
Recs- Should be [very] good

Any suggestions for schools to apply to (that are along the same lines as the two I mentioned) are welcome. Thanks.

Don't know too much about transfers, but I would also look at Tulane and Wake Forest.

Stats & Facts: University of Virginia

I seem to recall someone on college confidential sayin that in-state and out-of-state transfer applicants are on equal footing at UNC. That would help. But UNC and Va are both pretty tough to get into. Your stats are good but not great. Better have some backup plans. Seems like you prefer medium-sized state universities with beautiful campuses. You might check out Miami of Ohio, U of Alabama, Clemson, Delaware, and U of Kansas. For privates, Wake and Tulane are good options, as are Miami of Florida, Southern Methodist U., Villanova, and Lehigh.

Size isn't a huge deal for me, though I think I like colleges along the lines of UVA, etc. My sister goes to Big State School and I think it's a bit much for me. One thing about Sewanee that annoys me is the small size combined with the isolation. I can live with it, but it's not a perfect fit for me. There are plenty of people who are both serious and smarter than I am, but far too many fit the preppy, spoiled template: more concerned with chicks and booze than academics.

I'd like a somewhat more serious atmosphere were people actually care about academics. The only time you get that at Sewanee is during finals week (honestly probably my favorite week of the semester).

I'll look into some of the school suggested. Another factor, by the way, is cost. There are some schools that I have to rule out solely because I can't affort to pay 10k a year or whatever. I recognize that UNC and UVA are probably something of a long shot, but I'd like to give them and whatever other schools I can think of a shot.

Edit: Almost forgot- I'm interested in majoring in the humanities. Probably history or philosophy. Maybe something else. Not sure just yet what I want to do with my life (surprise, surprise)
