What are my chances? Wharton, Northwestern...B-schools.

Hi there!

I'm a Junior in the Northeast. I want to go to Wharton Undergrad and will be ED'ing ideally, but Northwestern, Georgetown, Princeton, or MIT would be just as good. Safe schools for me I'm thinking would be GWU and NYU.

SAT I: 800 Verbal, 780 Math, 750 Grammar.
SAT II: 790 American History, 680 Chemistry, 750 Math 1C, 730 World History.
AP's: 4 on AP Chem, 5's on AP Comparative Politics, AP European History, AP American, and got a 4 on AP World without even taking the class.
GPA: 103 weighted, 98 unweighted.
Rank: Unfortunately, I'm ranked 23rd out of 456 due to my class difficulty.

I attended a private school for "gifted" students for my middle school years, and went to public high school where I was accelerated by a year or two in all top honors/AP/IB classes.

I've taken entry level classes in WRT and ETS through Syracuse University. For my senior year, I am taking AP English, finishing my 5 years of Spanish with AP Spanish, and also will be completing Regents level Japanese. AP Physics is also up next year. I also have over 10 stone sculpture pieces and have taken the class for the full 3 year program and won several awards for my pieces.

EC's:
Chairperson of projects in National Honor Society, Art Honor Society, and Business Honor Society.

Volunteered for local Bird Sanctuary for over 50 hours, as well as over 80 hours for the local Diabetes Research facility (and counting...)

Vice President of local Business competition club.

Varsity Track and Field/Cross Country year round for all 3 season as well, and currently ranked 10th in my local 5 county league as well as having placed in the Penn Relays for 3 consecutive years.

Attended International Politics forum in D.C.

Finally, interned for 2 months with the President of Visa's east coast operations and then 1 summer with the President of Coca-Cola's Balkan region.

Basically, I had 3 questions. Do I have a pretty damn good shot of getting into Wharton considering I am a minority (Middle Eastern) in addition to the above? Do I need to shore up my volunteer service a bit more during this summer? And finally, will it hurt me that I got a 4 on the AP World exam and may sort of make me seem flippant for just taking a test randomly? Thank you so much! I just want to be able to get some feedback and whether I can finally stop sweating my high school years and finally lay back a bit for Senior year heh.

EDIT: Haha totally forgot to say that I am a Legacy since my mother attended UPenn, and does it help that she has volunteered over 100 hours for the alum interview process?

I don't think being a middle eastern helps.
Your stats are stellar and have a great shot at any school you apply to.

Damnation. I was hoping I could play the affirmative action angle.

no u gotta be black or maybee hispanic for aff action

and native, they are what? <1% of school population?

I think if you do ED Wharton you'll have a good chance. In your counselor rec, have him/her extensively explain your low rank and why you have one. Other than the rank, your academics are excellent. Your Balkan Coca-Cola thing, I believe, is EXCELLENT and you shouldm play that up on your Penn app (WITHOUT overdoing it).

You're very much in the game at Princeton and MIT (although you don't exhibit a math/science focus, which hurts you.)

Take the Math 2c and get 720+, that will add to your application.

Yeah, Math has never really been my strong point. I mean, I'm taking BC next year, but it's always been a mid 80's, at best low 90's for me. But I'm hoping I can play up the history/societal analyzation part that makes up Economics, and play down the calculus based part.
