Hey! So I applied to UW-S for the winter quarter. My stats are 3.81 GPA, 90 credits from South Seattle College, and working on ten from Bellevue College. I applied as an International Comm major. I have my AA from South, and I’m from Washington. Yeah, that’s all I can think of at the moment if you can post in your opinion that be great thx.
Since you’re a local, I hope you went to “Transfer Thursdays” at UW, or to the transfer fairs that the community colleges offer every quarter. The admissions reps aren’t there to mislead you. They’ll have much better info than College Confidential.
I had a meeting with a counselor at UW and was told I was a strong applicant but wanted to see if others had gotten in with my stats cause I’m really anxious about it.
Just a couple more weeks and the window for decisions will begin! This is my second time applying. I was denied for Autumn 2019 quarter due to not meeting the CADR’s (my former university had different requisites). Fingers crossed
@LinzMarie , it sounds like you have a good shot! I did attend a Transfer Thursday and most of the transfer applicants they accept are from Washington State CCs. They said GPA does matter. However, it obviously isn’t the only factor. By being an in-state transfer with that high GPA and 90 credits, you have a great shot. Transfer Thursdays provide very helpful and truthful information straight from the advisers that review our applications. I would also recommend that you attend one of those if you haven’t already. They accept group questions and one-on-ones after the session is over. Hopefully you did this prior to submitting your app because they also provide advice for your essay/applying.
To share my prior experience applying as a transfer- I applied as an out of state transfer (from a different university) with a 3.7 at junior status and I was denied. I was denied because I did not meet the CADRs, which inhibited their ability to review my application (hence I had a busy summer in order to reapply by August). I’m sure you will have met these requisites, but check their website and make sure. If you fall short of any of them, you will likely be denied before they even see your GPA or essay. It also took them a very long time to provide a decision for me (the last week of the notification period listed online), so be patient! They have thousands of apps to review, but less for the winter quarters. It could be the last week of December before we hear back. They did however, (for Autumn qtr.) seem to review the in-state transfers first, so it could be next month (lets be positive)! If it helps-I received my Autumn 2019 decision via the MyUW portal and also by email the same day. Therefore, I’d say it’s safe to say you will likely receive an email when a decision is made. So, you do not need to monitor the MyUW portal every 30 seconds as I did for the Autumn quarter (easier said than done LOL). GOOD LUCK!!
