What are my chances with Arizona State?

I have definitely done my research with ASU, but I kind of just wanted to get an exact answer with my exact situation...

ACT- 23
GPA- 2.61 (2.4 with only core classes)
Out of state

Now with my GPA, I am unsure. I have a 2.61 cumulative, but that includes my electives and whatnot. If you only count my core classes, it is around a 2.4. I know that is bad, but I am still working on bringing it up. Also, I looked at their requirements on collegeboard and here are the credits required for each subject:

English- 4 (4)
Foreign Language- 2 (2)
History- 1 (4)
Math- 4 (5)
Science- 3 (4)
Lab Science- 3 (3)
Social Studies- 1 (1)

in parenthesis, are the amount of credits I will have at the end of the year for each of those subjects. Since I have more math, history, and science credits, will they only look at my best credits for the amount required? Like will they only look at my 4 best math credits? Or my 3 best science credits? If so, then I would assume I have around a 2.75 GPA, maybe even higher.

I also do plan on retaking a couple classes online that I failed, so up my GPA a little more.

Thoughts? Thanks

I think your GPA will be a problem. A 24 ACT is necessary for nonresidents to qualify for normal admission, or a 3.0 GPA. Given that you don’t meet these requirements, you’ll have to hope for luck in the individual review process.

Retaking failed courses would definitely be a good idea.

Good luck.

I’ve read that info before, but I just want to make sure. If I get a combined score of a 24 on the ACT, am I 100% guaranteed accepted? I plan on taking the ACT two more times and with retaking a couple of classes online, I feel like I can easily obtain a 2.75 GPA and a 24+ on the ACT.

Is that correct?

^ I believe that is correct, but you must fulfill all of the competency requirements as well. You can always call them and check.
