Hey guys,

Im a sophomore in high school i hope to get into either uccs or ucb. My freshman grades were around a 2.8 and 2.9 and my first semester of sophomore year i got a 3.0 including both religion and p.e. I heard these dont count in the gpa which worries me because im now at a 2.9, this semester I have got my act together and most likely will obtain a 4.0. Im just curious if do get a 4.0 will colleges like that drastic improvement and perhaps disregard my freshman grades. Hypothetically speaking with a around a 3.4 gpa what are my chances of getting into uccs or ucb? thanks

All is not lost friend! Your high school grades aren’t even going to matter that much. All you have to do is go to Pikes Peak Community College, and you can still transfer over there. As a matter of fact, if you complete all your lower division courses at community college, you would be saving a lot of money anyway. You can actually be guaranteed to transfer if you complete the required community college coursework. Make sure you talk to a counselor at your community college, before you sign up for any classes so you don’t waste money on accident, taking the wrong classes or something like that.

Transfer requirements:

UC Santa Cruz is a maybe; UC Berkeley with a 3.4 GPA is nearly impossible. I recommend the above poster’s idea, as there is no shame in going to community college and then transferring. My local community college has an honours program that allows one to transfer to any UC school they like with an 85% acceptance rate. Good luck!
