What Are My Chances?

Hey, I am a junior now but I just wanted to get a good idea of what kind of chance I have and what kind of ACT I will need to get.

African American female
3.96 W
3.75 UW
26 ACT :(
Beta Club 3 years (Secretary)
FBLA 2 years
History Club
French Honors Society
Varsity Lacrosse (3 years)
Robotics Team (5th at the Peachtree Regional)
Assit with my mother's catering business
Taken AP World, AP American Lit, AP Lang, AP US
Going to take AP Physics, AP GOV, AP Econ, AP Lit, & AP Cal

Thanks

If you take all of those APs like you plan on, you will most likely get in.

However, you’ll have to keep your GPA up. I see you plan on taking all of those APs senior year? Wow…you might want to reconsider. Several of my peers decided to load up on 4-5 APs during their senior year as well! I only took 2 (I was trying to squeeze 3 in but that didn’t work). Ultimately, I’m very please that I only took 2! During your senior year you WILL become extremely lazy with your school work. Hahaha it happens to the best of us! The last thing you’ll want is a lot of work.

Your GPA isn’t that bad. I think it’s in UGA’s range. If you raise it, you’ll have a better chance. Aim for all As next time. As far as testing is concerned, you should study over the summer and/or try to take the SAT. Although UGA considered course rigor and GPA to be more important!

You seem to have the credentials. Good Luck!

Something to decide also is whether you are planning to do Early Decision or Regular Decision.

If you want them to decide solely on GPA, Test Scores and rigor then you would do Early Decision. I would only do Early Decision if you get your ACT score up to at least 28. Otherwise your chances are better RD when they will look at the whole picture.

You’re right about the whole UGA likes AP classes because my friend who is a freshman there now did NOT do so well on the SAT’s but she had all A’s in her AP’s so they let her in. I plan on applying Regular Decision but by their scholarship deadline so I’m not worried about that & I’ll be fine taking those AP’s, my friends & I are REALLY competitive so we’ll have no problem. Our goal is to stay the top 10 people in our class (out of 456) & I’m currently 10 so I def plan on keeping my grades up. I’m determined to get all A’s this year because both freshman & sophomore year I’ve had two B’s but they have all been 89’s & that’s not going to happen this year. Yeah I def plan on taking the ACT’s again by their June date I already signed up.

Thanks so much for your input, I appreciate it :)

Anyone else?

Although I obviously can’t speak for Georgia, I should think that if you maintain decent grades and maybe bring up your scores just a bit you should be fine! I got in this yr with a relatively low weighted gpa of 3.6 and sat score of 2020 and act of 31. I took 4 aps. I should think with your strong schedule and higher GPA that if you dont slack off senior yr like many do (although you really can’t afford to with that schedule!) you should at least be pretty set for rd?
