what are my chances?

I have a 3.33 unweighted gpa and a 1660 on the SATs (500 in math, 550 in critical reading, and 610 in writing), and a 25 on the ACTs and I live out of state. I work three days a week in the summer and during the school year, I donate blood every two months and do a lot of extra volunteering. I've been in the same 2 honors classes since freshman year and next year, I'm taking 2 AP's and another honors. I've done three seasons of sports every year, and varsity on all of them since sophomore year. And I'm the president of a club. Do you think I'll get in?

I was waitlisted and then accepted. I’m out of state with a 3.5 unweighted, 3.9 weighted, 1800 SAT, 1190 w.o. writing. A bunch of EC’s. I think you should try to raise your gpa this year and take the sat again… good luck!

Deffinately raise the GPA. I was deffered EA and accepted RA with a 3.58, 1660/1110 SAT, high school football all four years, two varsity letters, eagle scout, national honor society, history honor society, a job, and gis which is a duel-enrollement with JMU…and im in-state male.

I would pick up on extracurriculars, and maybe a little on the GPA.

JMU wants to see personality in their students, so don’t worry about your grades too much. With JMU, they just want to see A’s and B’s. If you have a C or two, you shouldn’t be sweating about it.

I have a 3.4 unwieghted gpa. i’m in 1 honor class and 3 AP’s . I do a lot of EC, im the vice president of a club, and treasure of another one. i do every the school play and i have 375.5 community service hours.i’m and out-of state male and hispanic .Any suggestions on how i can improve my chances of getting in JMU?

Get that GPA up to above a 3.5 at the least. I had a 3.58 and was still deffered EA (although I got in RA and am attending in two weeks), but that was with football, two varsity letters, eagle scout, national honor society, history honor society, 1600/24-1110/16 SAT, GIS which is duel enrollement with JMU, etc.

I’m also instate…which helps.

Like hesstopher said…JMU wants well rounded individuals, but that dosent mean your grades can slack any.

How about a 3.2 (not sure if W or UW), with a 1350 SAT (M + CR only), 30 ACT, 5’s in Euro and US AP tests, taking 5 or 6 APs senior year. National Merit Commendation (will not move forward due to relatively poor writing score). Honors in math and science since middle school. Very light on EC’s - chess team and club all years, robotics 9th grade, blood donor regularly, Boy Scout (might make Eagle but is at Life), has worked three summers at Scout camp, tutored friends in physics and business law.

GPA is low because he does not choose to do HW (e.g., the 5’s on the AP tests were accompanied by C+'s in the courses because he did not hand in essays but aced all classes and in class projects, did not do the reading or outlining in either course).

The combination of decent boards (no studying or prep courses done) and a low GPA makes it tough to evaluate if a school is a reach, match or safety for him.

Also, does anyone know about the physics program at JMU?
