What are my chances?

I applied ED to Wash U and I am very nervous because my stats are lacking a little but hopefully I have a chance. I go to one of the best public high schools in Oregon.

Ethnicity: Chinese

Extra-curriculars: I am being recruited for golf and I have visited/stayed with girls on the golf team. The coach has told me that after my visit I am #1 on his recruiting list. I placed 8th at state at the 6A level for the past 2 years. I volunteer at a local golf course, tennis camp, Chinese New Year celebration, and a LPGA tournament. I am in French Club, Key Club, Link Crew. For work experience, I babysit.
Essay: I decided to apply ED 3 or 4 days before the deadline so I had to scramble to write my essay. My teachers who read it said it was technically sound and my peers characterized it as honest and genuine.

The coach told me he talked to admissions about me and they said everything looks solid. There is no guarantee but he thinks my information looks good.

Probably around a third to get in…coaches have no say whatsoever over who gets in. All they can do is check on your status.

Just wait a couple days ;-x

1Ap in first three years, poor GPA, poor SAT (compared to Wash U mean). The only thing you have going for you is golf, which I don’t think will get you admitted on that alone.

And volunteering at a golf club or tennis club means zilch ;-x

UW 4.0 = poor GPA?

marcdvl- Thanks for your opinion. I sent in my ACT score, not my SAT. Unfortunately my school doesn’t offer AP classes for freshmen. It offers 1 for sophomores, and most APs are for junior and senior years. There are a bunch of prerequisites and for some reason I didn’t get recommended for biology my freshman year even though I got an A in 8th grade science. This whole day at school I couldn’t stop counting down until tomorrow! Haha it’s so painful having to wait.

RaVN: No, obviously 4.0 is not a poor GPA. Top 20% rank however is.

Zhou:
I’m not sure how 39 other people have higher rank than you do. I know you said its weighted, but you also said there weren’t a lot of courses.

With that said, the school profile will change a lot of my initial opinion. Taking one AP when it’s all you are able to take is a lot different than taking one AP when there are dozens available. I assumed the latter since you had quite a few your senior year.

Your chances are probably higher than I already said - but chances are just a guess with limited information.

I do hope you didn’t say you vounteered at a local golf course; golf pro or not. One thing to have a job, another thing to do community service. Completely different area when you could be doing community service but volunteering at a golf course instead.

Well those kids were recommended for bio their freshman year and they are two years ahead in math. Well at the golf course I volunteer for a junior camp and the tennis camp is for neglected kids who are in foster homes because of abusive families.

yay i got in!!! I’m so happy and excited.
