I'm an out of state student living in West Virginia..

Rank: 100/367 students (I plan to go up to 60 or 70)
SAT: Math: 490 Reading: 500 Writing: 540 (these will go up, this was my first time)
ACT: Have not taken yet, but expecting 27-30
GPA: Cumulative GPA so far is 3.485, should go up as well

I plan to score well on the World History and Spanish Subject Tests as well

I consistently get B's and A's in my honors classes. Next year I will be taking college english, AP Environmental Science, AP Statistics, AP Politics/Government, Economics, Band 3, and teacher assistant. I expect to succeed in all those classes with a B or an A. I have been in marching band for 3 years, and I have done a year in Tennis, Cross Country, Track, Wrestling, and Football. I plan to join the Key Club as well.

Gender: Male
Race: White
Alumni Relationship: None, first generation student

I am mostly worried because I am an out of state student. Is Clemson as hard to get into as people say it is? I want to major in business/marketing. This is my dream school. Please help, thanks!

Please do not submit your SAT score. Throw it in the trash and pretend it never happened! The average ACT score at Clemson is 28 so a score of 27-30 would be very good. Get that GPA up and class rank up and you should have more of a shot! (probably not very good chances right now).

Clemson is getting more and more selective every year and it’s tough to get into. But you’ve still got time to get those stats up. For me personally my first 3 years of high school weren’t that spectacular. I managed to pull it together senior year and first semester that year I pulled together my best semester ever and schools must have seen that as a positive since I got accepted to most of the schools I applied to. If you keep moving your class rank and GPA up, they’ll see that you are improving and will give you more of a look.

I wish I could forget about them but I’m pretty sure College Board already sent my scores! But does that matter, since they take my best scores anyways?

Oh you asked the College Board to send your scores to Clemson? in that case you better work on improving those SAT scores as well and show Clemson that you’re improving on those as well

feel free to look at my chances post because Clemson was right on my level in terms of stats if not a little below

Thanks, I will! Good to see another Ravens fan by the way, I live an hour from Baltimore lol. But also to anybody reading this, would doing volunteer work and joining clubs help? I’m willing to do anything!

Extracurriculars are “considered” and volunteer work is “not considered”.

Your GPA, class rank, test scores and coursework are going to be the most important factors (along with alumni relations and state residency)
