Hello there! I know it's late in the game at this point, but with just a month before admissions decisions are mailed out I'm starting to get really antsy. I would love to go to Columbia, and though I know the chances are slim for anyone, I would appreciate any feedback that you can give. Please be completely honest! I won't feel hurt =D

SAT: 2290 (730 CR, 760 M, 800 W)
SAT IIs: 800 Math II, 770 Physics
GPA: 92.94/100, no class rank, and not entirely sure what my 4.0 is... somewhere between 3.8 and 4.0, and my school doesn't weight, so not sure...
Go to highly ranked school (#58 in US I think, haven't checked in a while) in NYC
I've only taken one AP before this year - My school bumped me out of two last year because there wasn't enough space, and I was just unlucky enough to be the one kicked from both =( ah well.
- AP Music Theory (4)
Current Year:
- AP Statistics
- AP Physics C (mechanics and electro/magnetism)
- AP US Government
- AP Calculus AB (I'm taking the BC test though, on recommendation from my math teacher)
- AP Literature
- Senior Biology Research
and, of course
- Gym

My main problem is my ECs, I don't think they're particularly good (though maybe I'm just being pessimistic?). I love music, but the music that I do I mostly do at home, so I don't have a "position" or any "awards" for it. It's just a passion.

ECs and Positions:
- Guitarist/Drummer/Bassist (playing guitar/bass since 13, drums since 12)
I played in a Toys for Tots charity concert as a guitarist on December 14th 2009.
- Composer
I compose for a variety of styles and instruments, like string quartets and pianos and stuff, but I typically write more 70s and 80s rock and alternative style music. I record using a really cheap but surprisingly effective home setup.
- Family
This is the big one; I have two MUCH younger sisters (currently 3 and 5 years old) and I have to take care of them when my parents are working, or just help out in general.
- Science-Fiction/Fantasy Club (aka "Sciffie")
Since Freshman year, and I was the treasurer last year.
- Bowling team
I was on the team both Freshman and Senior year
- Volunteer
I volunteered at a local hospital until the end of my Junior year, and have a total of 364 hours
- Independent Research
Since the middle/end of my Sophomore year I worked with a professor at NYU on a study about the relationship between musical variation and listener enjoyment.
- I have presented at my school's Science Exposition every year since Sophomore year.

Awards:
- National Merit Finalist
- Junior Humanities and Science Symposium (JSHS) semifinalist
uh... I think that's it...

I /might/ have written too much =P

Let me know what you think and please give me your honest opinion! Thanks everyone!
