French Honor Society, Literary magazine, Academic team, Orchestra, Chess Team, Youth Orchestra.

I would go with 50 to 60% maybe a little better.... scores all seem good.

GPA?... plus I'd advise against a trite "why Emory" essay... this essay is agruably the most important part of the app behind GPA/SAT

4.78 Weighted, 3.98 UW.

Well for the why Emory essay, I'm not totally regurgitating the viewbook. I'm talking about my traits and my likes/dislikes and comparing them with Emory.

def 50+ % chance of acceptance then

ok. So, in your opinion, what do you consider a trite "why essay"? I'm writing these types of essays for other schools too.

trite would include reasons that arent specific to the University... i.e. anything to do with ATL... basically I did a lil research on the departments I was interested in and I showed that I was extremely impressed with specific things Emory could offer (the website has good department information and research programs etc.)... additionally if u kno some1 there or you've visited... its important to write about how not only is it an academic fit but a social fit... Emory just (in my opinion) wants to kno that its not some random/ safety school but rather a school you really want to go to if accepted... which is true with all schools but especially with Emory

A "why Emory" essay that is not generic and mentions specific characteristics/opportunities/departments at Emory would be fine.

C..emory is not as hard as people think it is to get in
