what are my chances? :(

<p>Hi,
So I am a current senior. I've been having trouble lately, because I am not sure exactly what my major is going to be engineering or business. I know that engineering with increase my chances, given that I am a girl. Also, because I don't know how unrealistic I am about my college choices.</p>

<p>My standardized testing scores have been relatively decent. I have a

2100

on my sat, (780 math, 700 english)

730

for chem and a

760

for math II. I've only taken APs and honors courses.

My current schedule is AP Lit, AP Physics C, AP Stat, AP Calc BC, AP Gov, AP Econ (macro +micro), and Honors Band.

My extra curricular activities include clubs that help autistic kids, encourage eco-friendly behavior, debate, and Relay for life cancer society.

I've been fencing since middle school. I am currently captain of the fencing team. I also am involved in music honor society.

I've also been involved in being in a highly selective orchestra (first oboe). In my state there is an evaluation? I guess for music. I've been selected for all-state and nominated for all eastern.

Also, every year I've been overseas doing community works from at *least* a 2000 mile radius from the U.S.

That being said, the biggest

problem

I have is my gpa. Unfortunately, I slacked off intensely in high school. My unweighted gpa is a

3.47

. My weighted gpa is a

3.75

. (Not saying that I deserve better) :(</p>

<p>But, given that I am still young with unrealistic ambitions, I want to ED to Carnegie Mellon, EA into Umich, Notre Dame (lol), Villa nova, Binghamton and UNC. I will RD into NYU, Syracuse, Geneseo, and a few more colleges I haven't decided yet. </p>

<p>Chance me? and I'll chance you :D.</p>

<p>p.s. I know truth hurts, but try not to pour salt on the wound. -.-</p>

<p>Carnegie, ND, UNC = reaches, UMich = low reach (assume out of state), NYU = low reach, Nova, Binghamton, Syracuse and Geneseo = matches. None of these are completely unrealistic except perhaps UNC, which is ridiculously hard to get into out of state (takes only 10% OOS and so about as difficult as Duke for OOS).</p>

<p>Given your musical talent, have you thought about a good school with a conservatory such as Oberlin or Hopkins?</p>

<p>CMU: Reach
UNC: Reach (82% has to be in-state but, for budgetary reasons they admit 18% of OOS; even so, it’s about as hard as Duke)
ND: Reach
UMI: High match
NYU: Match
Villanova: Low match
Binghamton: Match (OOS against you perhaps?)
Syracuse: Low match
Geneseo: Low match</p>
