I think your chances are good!

To everyone asking for chances, here is the thread that can help you get a better sense of your “chance” for admission. Everyone on cc does their best to help by offering personal opinions, and you should not let that sway you one way or another. The one and only opinion that counts is the one made by the admissions office. Understand that cc opinions are based on incomplete information (we don’t see letters of recommendation, your essays, etc) just as the decision thread also gives incomplete information. So, bear that in mind when you consider your own “chance” of admission. Best of luck to everyone!

One comment, though…you realize that most students who frequent CC are generally the high-performers…looking at the stats of the first few “accepts” in that list can be pretty intimidating. There are a LOT of Maryland in-state students who get in with stats close to yours. However, I don’t think you’re in the running for B/K, and your gpa may keep you from special programs or additional merit aid. However, your chances for attending UMD are high, for an in-state student. Good luck. (MAKING SURE YOU ARE APPLYING FOR THE PRIORITY DEADLINE>>>>)

Okay thanks for all the information. Just a question what do you mean by not in the running for B/K? And the merit aid doesn’t matter to me, as I’ll be saving more than enough by going to UMD. Thanks again.

the Banneker/Key (full ride) scholarship.

astrophysicsmom, did you ever see my stats? If so do you think I’m in the running for the honors college? My scores are kinda low, but my gpa is high… highest sat: 1940 gpa: 4.07

With only about a month until the decisions are released I am starting to get pretty nervous. I have been accepted to University of Illinois already, but that isn’t my top choice more of a fall back. I just hope I can get into UMD, anybody else have a guess on wether or not I will be accepted? To the above poster, I believe that you will be in the running for honors college, based on some research I have found they mostly care about your GPA, and not your SAT/ACT scores.

Anybody want to chance me again? I know it gets pretty annoying with everyone asking for chancing(myself included), but I’m starting to get really nervous since we find out in just 26 days. Thanks in advance guys, you’ll make my night if you could chance me.

Hey I’ll chance you!

Hi all,

Hope you don’t mind me leaching your thread Silentkink!

I’m a student at an in-state Community College whose reading these posts with mixed emotions (I’ll read one post and think I’m sure to be rejected, but then I’ll read another post and think that I might not be so boned). Basically I was wondering if someone could gauge my chances (honestly, please don’t hold anything back, and be as brutal as you can).

Stats:
Maryland Community College GPA: 3.41 w/ 15 credits
-9 credits in the summer of 2012
-6 credits in the fall of 2012
-12 planned credits for the spring of 2013
GPA had an upward trend from about a 3.1 to a 3.5
Nuclear family all graduated College Park
SAT: 1910 w/ 660 Math, 650 Reading, and a 600 Writing
Essay: Confident in the essay’s ability to capture me

P.S. I took 10 credits at the same Community College I now attend, senior year (2011-12) with jumpstart program

Thanks so much for any help, good luck to everyone whose applying, FEAR THE TURTLE!
