Athletic Activities
Sport Years
Varsity GOLF (MEN) 3 years, 3 year captain/ MVP Junior year, State Medalist. And Coach Clevenger has contacted me about the possibility of playing for ARMY.
I am also a Black Belt 1st Dan, and have several National Championship Titles throught the Nation Tae Kwon Do Association.

I am worried, because my SAT is fairly low, and my CFA is also poor,
CFA
BBALL Throw: 70'
Pull Ups: 1
Shuttle Run: 8.4
Modified Sit-Ups: 95
Push-Ups: 71
1-Mile Run: 6:50

I CAN ONLY DO 1 PUSH UP! I'm so embarassed. That and my mile are horrible, not tomention my 70 foot throw. Well hopefully my activities and Academics will help me out, also the possibility of playing Golf for ARMY. Thanks for your time and consideration- Alex

You actully looks really good besides the SAT, IMO. Have you called your admissions officer and asked them? The best anyone can give you here is an estimate, they can give you a definate answer.

^(Thats copied from my Candidate Information Site)

Well, I really dont know... my admissions officer, Major Blije said that my senator and congressman nominated me twice?? I was really confused, so if anyone knows about it tell me please?

buy a pushup bar and put it in the doorway to your bedroom. every time you walk through the doorway do a pullup, then increase. every time i pass my door I do like 10.

your extracurriculars have me owned. you have like every one possible.

as for the SAT... I think its too late to bring up. If it isnt, sign up for the next date asap, get the collegeboard official SAT study book, and start reading.

you need to get that pullup count up asap... i think i remember reading some mom posting on here that her son got DQed last year for only being able to do like a few pullups.

I would say that you have a very good shot based on your projected whole candidate score. You SATs aren't great but they aren't godawful. You ECs are a bit excessive which should help, :). I had about the exact same resume' except my SATs and I got an LOA. There really isn't much you can do now, just pull ups everytime you pass your door. I have started doing pushups until I burn out before I go to bed and they have increased dramatically as well. Good luck.

Maybe I should just quit after I've done everything else.. damn! I know for sure I will fail the Pullups... so there is no point.. maybe i should withdraw my application from the Academy, and tell Coach Clevenger that I am not goin to be able to make it due to my lack of pull-ups.

forget it... I'm not the type to quit something, especially after I've gotten this far.. flying to nebraska from Boarding school in cali to get my nominations .. forget it... i'm goin to stick too it till the end! -HOOAH

No! It doesn't matter if you do half a pull-up. Show them that you want it enough that you're not going to quit, even if it does seem impossible. It'll only reflect better on you next year when you'll be able to rattle off 10 pull-ups or more.

Sorry, you got your second post in before I could submit a reply. This is in response to you thinking about quitting.

It is possible to receive 2 nominations from the same MOC if there is more than 1 slate available. Nebraska is not one of the highly competitive states, so this may be what occurred.

I could only do 9 pullups before going to USAFA and now I can do about 16 or 17. Just keep doing them...that and Lat pulldowns are the only way you'll get better at them.
