What Are My Chances?

PLEASE HELP!!!!! NEED ADVICE FAST SO I CAN START APPLICATIONS
I am a junior, male, high school student at a very competitive school in Pittsburgh planning on applying to these schools for biomedical engineering next fall: Pitt, Penn State, Rutgers, Ohio State, Case, Michigan, Northwestern, UVA, Purdue, RPI. Legacy at RPI. What are my chances at these schools?

Here are my credentials:
Unweighted GPA: 3.666 Weighted GPA: 4.079
Class Rank: 47/300
Extremely rigorous courses, all honors and AP - 8 AP Classes over junior and senior year

College Essays and Letters of rec. will be good.

Superscored Sat: 2000 Single attempt: 1930

Math: 710 Reading: 620 Writing: 670

Involved in many extracurriculars. Here are some:

One of the top tennis players in my section, 1 singles for my school. Competed well in WPIAL tournament. In addition to tennis team, I am in NHS, SNHS, Mocktrial, Student Council, FBLA, chain reaction team, relay for life team, etc. Hold leadership positions such as president and vice president within a couple clubs. Various jobs and volunteer work. Job shadowing at hospital.

Are these schools ok? Do I have good safe schools and reach schools? If not where should I apply? Also, where should I apply early decision?

Thank you for the advice!

Northwestern is a definite reach due to GPA/SAT.
Ohio State might be a reach too.
I think you have a pretty good shot at the other colleges you listed though!
These are great schools!! I need help with deciding on where to apply too. I haven’t started on my apps at all so you can chillax :)

In return could you help me (http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1518458-these-correct-safeties-matches-reaches-me.html</a>)

Should I apply early decision to Northwestern, or not apply there at all?

If Northwestern is your dream school by all means apply! It never hurts to apply even though this is a bit of a reach.
Northwestern can be harder to get into then a lot of the Ivies. What I would do is study for the SAT and retake in October or maybe even try the ACT. Other then that you would have to demonstrate a lot of interest and have great ECs/essays, etc.

Apply ED only if you can afford it. Also Northeastern would be a great place for you to apply with those stats!

None of the schools I am applying to require sat subject tests, they are optional. Do you think I should take them in October when I retake the sat?

You can’t take Subject tests and the SATI on the same day.
Only if you have taken the AP course in that specific subject would I recommend you take the Subject test. If you’re taking Math II, you’ll have to study pretty hard. If you took APs last year you might have forgotten some things so get some review books if you plan on taking Subject tests.

But since you said they were optional, if you don’t have time, just focus on the SAT I right now.

Any other thoughts? Also, I went to the Pitt engineering session and was told that they only really look at the math sat score and the average of last year was 750 and a GPA of 4.2 (weighted). But this seems high and untrue to me, considering scores at lower level ivies are similar. What are your thoughts?

any thoughts???

bump10char

If you are applying for engineering, definitely do Math2. You got 710 in SAT1 Math, so you may need to work a little bit to get a good score in SAT2 Math2. If you got near 800 in SAT1 Math, you probably don’t need much preparation for Math2 except for a couple practice tests.
For UMich, your GPA is low and your SAT1 is around 25%. It would be a low reach for you.

Do I have too many reach schools besides northwestern and michigan? Should I change the schools I’m applying to? Also, what do you think of the average scores at Pitt’s engineering school?

OSU and Purdue seem to be good match for you.

I think your list is pretty well balanced.

Northwestern, UVA, and UMich are all reaches, but you have a good shot at the rest.

yeah i agree

what are my chances at georgia tech and university of illinois urbana champaign? my scores seemed to fit the average at the engineering departments here, despite being highly ranked.
