Good Rec's

Decent Essay about my fund raiser to clean up the Streets of Houston...

I'm A 1st generation Chinese boy. Parents immigrated, and do not think I done enough (especially in the EC department) to get into an Ivy. I live in Texas, and my Parents want me to stay close to home.

I have applied to:
Texas-Austin (I'm informed that this is a reach for me)
Texas A&M
Baylor
Texas Tech
Sam Houston State
U of Houston

My out of state options are:
East Michigan
Iowa
Georgia Tech
Duke (major reach!!)
San Jose St.
Cincinatti
UMass

Most seem like reaches though (especially Duke).

I did manage to sneak in an applicatation to Yale, Cornell, and Columbia. I don't think I'll make it though, and if my parents found out, they'd probably discourage it. They'd be overjoyed if I made it, though. What are my chances?

THANKS!!! ALOT =)!! but i still don't know... is anyone else as confident as mdg? or as discouraging as my parents =(. lol, it's alright though.

yeah. . i wouldn't be worried at all if I were you.. a 1580, great grades and alot of ec's-- you'd get in anywhere..I wish I had stats like that . . lol

you guys are so confident!! yay!!! lol, i wish you guys were my parents!!! haha!!! you guys are really nice i'm glad i joined this site. any more posts???

I thought my stats were good enough, but that's not what my parents think. They're really demanding. I told them we should seek out a college counselor, and they got an old friend of there's an Asian college counselor. He discouraged even applying to any Ivy's, and so I was forbade to. I searched the Internet to find a forum just like this, to get a myraid of comments that encourage me to apply. This way, I can apply to all the Ivy's and then me and my parent's can decide which I would go to (if I get in). I don't mean to brag, but i just really would like to go to an Ivy league college without my parents frowning upon my appliance. Thanks for all your great comments and keep them coming!!

Velocity, you have good stats, but please stop pretending to have graduated from various schools. You have claimed that you are a graduate of Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Amherst, and Dartmouth.
