What are my chances?

Hey guys,

I’m looking into applying to the university’s School of Architecture for EA, and I would like some opinions on my chances of getting into the university.

GPA: 2.9 unweighted/3.3 weighted
ACT: 28
ECs: I’ve been in my school’s Student Government Association since sophomore year as a class representative. I’ve also been in Green Club and Fashion Club since junior year. Last year I volunteered at the Nashville Humane Association. I’m currently working at Laser Quest, for 3 months now, and plan to work there until next summer. I am also in a Freshman-Senior mentoring program.

I’ll be graduating with 12 honors classes and 7 AP’s. I know my GPA is low but my grades have increased GREATLY since sophomore year. I’m a first generation college student and I am African American.

Thanks.

I also attend a top ranked rigorous magnet school that’s ranked pretty high, if that helps.

Based on 1st generation/URM, I’d say that you’re in, but they might wait list you based on gpa/class rank. Your ACT puts you right at the mid-level (a few percentage points below it), but you’re gpa (and I’m assuming rank) is very low.

LennyPepperidge- Thanks for your input! My school does not rank by the way.

Any other opinions?

Were you accepted into the school?

SportsManager: Haven’t submitted my application yet, still working on my essay. I’ll let you know when I receive my letter.

As an addition to my profile, I just found out that I am a National Achievement Outstanding Participant. Not sure if that will help my chances.
