Your SAT score seems a little low compared to your GPA and class rank, but I think you have a very good shot. Good luck, hope we hear back soon!

Yeah I am a decent test taker but the SAT just isn’t my thing. I was so proud of that 2060 since I spent so much time preparing doing practice tests and online test prep. But you’re right usually if someone practically has a 4.0 GPA and is ranked 3rd in the class their SAT will be up in the 2200s at least! But thanks!

I got deferred early action, do I still have a chance for regular decision? I sent a letter to admissions letting them know I am still very interested in the school and let them know about some of my recent accomplishments.

@Soxfan have you tried the ACT? The ACT tends to suit math/science people much better. I got a 1980 on my only SAT, but applied with two 33’s superscored to 34 with ACT. I’m not sure if it is too late, but if it isn’t I would suggest taking it.

I would say you have a good shot because of your very high class rank. It will be hard for them to ignore that. They probably deferred you for the SAT score (which sucks I know).

@PengsPhils I believe it is too late to take the ACT. I wish I did but I can’t change that now. I would have taken it if I thought a 2060 wasn’t good enough for Northeastern, but it was within the range that they have posted. Also, both times I visited, they have clearly stated that the SAT is not the only thing they look at. And I felt confident about my GPA, courses, rank, and extracurriculars. But I guess we I’ll just have to wait and see.

Hello! I got accepted and received a personalized letter of acceptance. In my letter the admissions person wrote about how he was impressed by my community service. I also got a scholarship, which I feel was due to my community service.

So my advice would be to keep them updated on your community service. Something that can take only 2 weeks to do and looks great is organizing a Comfort Object Drive (blankets, pillows, stuffed animals, etc…) and donating it to a shelter. I did one last year and printed out handouts with the shelter’s name, my name, my address, and list of objects I was collecting. I went around my neighborhood and gave them to people. I was really surprised by the amount of donations. This is something quick and easy you can do but that has meaning.

Good Luck!

@95Carol I definitely
Have a lot of community service. But I didn’t understand how to show that on my common app. I put all my sports and clubs in the activities section but
I don’t know where I could have shown the exact community service I
Have done. Maybe I Could send in another email listing them?
