I'm worries because I'm not a Delaware resident & the number of Honors Classes I've taken has gone down each year. My senior year I'm only taking AP English & regular Calculus, but I'm doing a lot of extracurriculars (the opposite of my freshman year, where I took all honors & did nothing outside of school). Do I have a shot? It's my number 1 choice.

Do you have a selected major? overall I think you are on the plus side of the cusp for a University Studies admission. Not sure what this coming year will bring with acceptances. Of course I don’t know for sure but my feeling is UD may tighten up their admissions a bit this year given the overwhelming number of commitments they received from admitted students. Showing interest and a great essay will help as well.

Besides your “relatively” low SAT scores (for an OOS student) I think you may have a problem in the area of your progression of fewer honors/AP classes as you progressed thru HS. Besides grades UD looks at trends in course rigor and will probably question why this pattern occurred (they would prefer the opposite to have been true as this would indicate that the applicant is preparing themselves to handle the intense rigor of courses at UD). If you have a good rationale for this happening I would include this in your application. While EC’s may play a role in admission decisions they usually are not a major factor (as compared to course rigor/grades, test scores, GPA, and class rank). You may also be able to increase your odds by scheduling an admission’s interview (not required but it may help). You might also want to consider taking the ACT exam (some students do better on this, especially if you are not strong in math and science). Just trying to be helpful. It may be somewhat of a reach for you as an OOS student (I did not say impossible) as OOS acceptance is becoming increasingly competitive. Good luck.
