I think you have a good chance My son was accepted RD 2013 with not quite as high stats, he also has a mild processing disorder (longer test taking time granted). Good luck (!)
Thanks, if it’s possible could you tell me what your son’s scores were. My brother has scores that are slightly lower but he still wants to apply.
It’s a definite match for you. Your brother should apply, he has nothing to lose! The application isn’t very difficult.
Since you’ll be a first generation collegian, did both of your parents graduate from HS (GED doesn’t count)? If either had SOME or NO high school, it’s worth and extra 300 points on the admissions algorithm. If both…600 points. If both completed HS then you don’t get a bump. Also, is your GPA and unweighted HS GPA or the Cal Poly calculated CSU GPA?
If memory serves (please forgive the not exact #'s) my sons SAT & ACT scores were at or just below what they were reporting the average CP admittance scores for the previous year. His HS GPA was 3.4 (from an educationally rigorous private high school, of which I think made a difference considering it was below the average admit for CP). He did have the max after school hours of activity and had the max hours for work experience in degree applying that was asked on the application. As far as the rest of the application he had or exceeded what was expected for CP as far as classes taken and currently taking. He is a BRAE major (Bioresouce and Agriculture Engineering), he is doing great educationally and loves the SLO area :). Good Luck!
