I am currently a freshman and Georgetown is my dream school. I have a 3.7 GPA and by the time I graduate I will have taken 9 AP courses. I play a sport each high school season and I am in several clubs. I am also working towards my Girl Scout gold award. I will also be volunteering at my school’s special needs sports camp (45 hours) over the summer. Do I have a chance at getting in?
While I’m impressed that you are starting your research early, I would suggest focusing on what you can do right now. Really develop good study skills and apply those junior and senior year when the classes get harder. Try to get the highest GPA you can this year and sophomore year so that you will have a cushion for junior year (hell) and get involved early so that you can maybe have some leadership opportunities as an upperclassmen. Just don’t fall into the “we’re only underclass men, grades don’t matter” trap. I see you’ve avoided that in your first semester. Right now it is too early for you to have chances anywhere.
