What are my chances?

Im a sophomore, soon to be junior in high school and im visiting BU next week! BU has been my dream school since 8th grade along with GW for political science. This is all i have Completed in high school so far and I was wondering, what are my chances?

GPA: 4.4 (Weighted)

SAT (2400): did not take yet
SAT (1600): did not take yet

PSAT (2400): FIRST TIME: 1600, no studying at all

Freshman year classes:
Bio A (R) History A+ (R) Algebra II B+ (R) Spanish A (R) Microsoft Office A+ (R) English I B+ (Honors)

My high school freshman year did not offer any honors level courses in anything besides math and science. This was extremely frustrating, and I transferred to a new school sophomore year. The R is an academic level class, and its the highest available option in everything except Math and English

Sophomore Year Classes:
Honors Geometry, Honors US I, Honors English II, Chemistry, Spanish II, Digital Media and Photo

Junior Year Schedule:
AP English, AP US II, Honors Precalc, Physics, Business Management

Sports: Freshman Soccer, Winter Track (2 years JV), Cross Country (1 year JV)

Extracurriculars: Interact Club, Student Council (2 years), Newspaper Writer (2 years), Ski and Snowboard Club,
Photography Club, Pre-Medicine Club

Major Awards: None that I can think of , I received Principal’s Honor Roll? lol

Other: First person going to college on my fathers side of the family, and I also have over 25 hours of community service, I have a youtube channel with over 4,000 subscribers were I make weekly videos + receive payment for them, and I applied to have an internship at a local hospital this summer

So overall, Im well rounded when it comes to activities because I like trying new things and I really wanted to find something Im passionate about. My old school did not have many hard courses to offer, so I feel like that brings me down a bit. Please respond I would love to hear from you!

i meant math and english for freshman year, not science. sorry!

Looking solid! If you hit the ballpark of at least a 2000 SAT you’ll get in. If its below, don’t worry too much because college admissions aren’t so dependent on them anymore. Make sure to do extracurriculars in things that you have a passion for, because then you can really talk about them in your essays. Very impressive that you are planning well in advance! I wish you the best of luck and perhaps see you around the BU campus in a few years time  (I’m class of 2019)

Thank you! And congrats on getting admitted! Yeah haha there is an imbalance in my extracurriculars, mostly because I moved schools between freshman and sophomore year that didnt offer any of the same things really. But I planning to continue all but Ski Club and Interact because they are not offered, and Winter Track because I just didnt enjoy it anymore and because i became more interested in the forensics team. But thanks for your advice!

i think you have a good chance but I cannot agree on the comment that if you get at least a 2000, you’ll get in. I have proactive friends with a 33 act who were waitlisted from BU. Just perfect your supplemental essay and I think you have a good shot.

I think it also has a lot to do with income because its such an expensive school. who knows why colleges do what they do sometimes lol

@llegeAcceptanc‌, I was just giving him a good goal to set for himself seeing that he hadn’t taken the SAT. Other than this, he has an application that is on par with BU and I don’t see any reason to reject him, especially if he goes ED. Those friends that you have who were rejected were either unfortunate with the applicant pool, or there was a missing aspect/quality that BU was looking for in their application. Hopefully they got in to other great colleges though!

@proudterrier these are my stats as of right now, could you chance me?

I’m a 24 year old female at a 2 year school in New Jersey
GPA: 3.82
EC/Clubs: I’ve done some volunteer work recently, but not much, history club, national honor society, national business honor society, my school’s business club/society
Job: I’ve worked at Ann Taylor Loft as an associate and a manager and I’ve been there since I graduated high school in 2008 so the fact that I clearly have good work ethic and I have a job might make up for only having a few ECs
HS GPA: 3.6
Mid Year Report: As in all 5 courses

I was going to apply for the business school but I decided to go to COM for advertising instead (I did not have enough math courses bc I really hate it lol) and the admissions person told me that might hurt me if I apply to their business school. I think my essay was very strong and people who read it said it was very meaningful and seemed genuine.

I also only applied to Rutgers Business School when I submitted my application. I just finally now applied to a second school in Boston but I did not want to apply to too many schools bc I want BU to know that I want to go to them and only them and that if I were accepted, I would definitely attend. One thing I am a little nervous about is that I would require a lot of financial aid bc I have no financial support from my family and do not make a lot of money since I work part time. I think that may hurt my chances a bit.

@ashleymerk i recently went on a tour, and my tour guide was a transfer student without any honors courses either, so i think you have a good chance! i think they go easier on the transfers. ive heard bad things about rutgers business school though, maybe try tcnj, monmouth, montclair, even penn state they are all reasonable and great schools.

@ashleymerk you can dorm at bu at 24? or are you living off campus

@jjohnross yeah I def don’t wanna go to Rutgers!! I applied to Suffolk university (in Beacon Hill, Boston) and was accepted with a merit scholarship but I love BU… I know the average for transfers is a 3.5 which I’m higher than but gpa isn’t everything… As far as on campus I would probably do apartment style for the first year with my own bedroom

@skidreamer update! i got a 30 on the ACT. is this good for BU? they say their average is a 31 on the website, but everywhere else it says 27-31. So im frankly unsure
