Background: Junior in HS; Hispanic female; wanting to go into STEM(either computer science or biology); will be first generation college student and will graduate with highest honors and maybe valedictorian
The schools that i would love to attend: New York University, Boston College, Boston University, City College of NYC, Rutgers University
schools that are awfully far reaching but are my dream schools are Columbia, UPenn and Harvard.
My safety school has automatic admission and I know I’ll meet the requirements so I’m not worried at all about that.
GPA:::: I’m currently a junior in HS, I messed up badly my freshman year so i have a 3.5 GPA but hope to get that up to a high 3 point or 4.0 by the end of my senior year through many AP classes
AP Classes: Sophomore year: AP World
Junior year: APUSH, AP Lang, AP Computer Science, AP Biology, AP Psychology
Senior Year: AP Cal, AP Human Geo, AP infrastructure, AP Environmental Science, AP literature
Activities:
-I’m founding a political club at my school (Young Democrats) and will be the president of it and am actively a member of the national organization.
-I volunteer with various political campaigns
-registered Democratic Party volunteer
-I’m planning to run and be elected as a state official such as VP of the state Young Dem organization sometime in the upcoming year
-During the summer, i take up a fellowship at the capitol for the democratic party(3 out of 4 HS years)
- involved in Future Business Leaders of America(2 years)
- Junior Class Council (planning to continue onto senior class council next year and be elected as president)
- planning on attending Girls State this year(the national political program)
- French Honors Society(3 years of foreign language)
-regularly volunteer at the food pantry at my church
-I will have ran cross country and track 3 out of 4 of my years in HS
-current member of the CyberPatriot(will be involved next year too) national club/organization for cyber security - IT club/academy(3 out of 4 years) at my school
FOCUSES: I am mainly trying to gear my focus towards politics just because i seriously enjoy being involved and love it (dont necessarily plan on being involved as much as i am after college) and technology specifically computer science(i will have completed 6 computer science classes by the time i graduate)
Additional INFO: I am hoping to do something impressive and semi-significant this summer to talk about on my admissions app. I would like ideas if anyone has any; i got accepted into NYU Pre College last year but didn’t attend, i am considering attending this year and am planning on also applying to the Yale Global Scholars Program
Test Scores: I plan to drill for the ACT and take it many times to get at least a 34 or 35 on it…
