What are my chances?

I go to a small, all-girls’ school that is one of the best schools in my area.

I have mostly A’s and B’s. I got a lot of C’s sophomore year, but I explained in my additional information that my uncle died and it distracted me from my work. In the first quarter, I got 4 A’s and one B. I submitted my first quarter grades.

Here are my classes:

Freshman year:
English
Geometry
Spanish II
Biology
World History

Sophomore year:
English
Algebra II
Honors Spanish III
Honors Chemistry
US History

Junior year:
English
Physics
AP Spanish
Trig/Pre-Calc
Genocide (1 semester)
American celebrity culture (1 semester)

Senior year:
English
Spanish IV
Calculus
Environmental Science
AP Government

I also submitted a resume, which highlights my heavy involvement in my Jewish youth group (leadership opportunities) and community service. I played volleyball from 9th-11th grade and lacrosse 9th-12th grade. I’m also a 4 year member of my a Cappella group.

As far as standardized tests go, I didn’t do well on the AP Spanish exam, so I’m not submitting that. However, I got a 31 on the ACT.

I’ve visited AU twice, interviewed twice, subscribed to their emails, attended a regional info session, attended a school info session, visited them at a college fair, and I’m attending a webinar next week. I’m applying early decision.

Do I have a chance?

Your grades are pretty good and your stats seem quite aligned with American’s! You might want to submit your ACT score cause it looks like you haven’t taken too many honours or AP courses(if your school offers those many that is) because if you apply test optional they look closely into your academic rigor! Your ACT score is great for American I suggest you make use of it? They care a lot about demonstrated interest and it looks like you’ve gotten that down!
