Any advice as to what I can do to help my application, besides raise my gpa? What are my chances ED and normal? Thanks a lot and good luck to all others applying for 2011

I was accepted this year and comparing your application to my application, I'd say you're on the right track. The GPA is questionable, but so was mine. I had a 3.5/4.0, and I really didn't have a killer high school schedule either. You have good test scores, and tons of extracurriculars, but I think what helps people immensely on the Wake Forest app is the writing. The application is writing intensive with two essays and 4 or 5 short answer quesitons. So, I'd say with a good essay you have a very good shot at getting in. And, if you have any other schools you are seriously looking at, then I wouldn't ED, but that's just me.

I've sent in my tuition deposit to Wake, and I've had a very good impression of everything about them so far. The professors there are at the top of their fields, and seem to care genuinely about the learning that their students are doing. The campus is absolutely gorgeous. I've heard complaints about the cost, the dining and residence halls, and the "preppyness" of the student body. But, I've visited there twice now, talked to some of the students, and I can say for sure that the dining is not bad at all (I have eaten in "The Pit" 3 times now, and been satisfied each time). The students I've met are down to earth and personable, and I don't see any pervasive "preppyness". The cost is high, though. These are all just my opinions, and I'm sure someone will disagree with me.

kidfromohio -- where in ohio are you from? i'm pretty sure that we ohioans have somewhat of a geographical advantage when applying to wake forest; not too many kids from ohio end up there. i maintain that my being from northeastern ohio helped my cause in getting accepted to wake. good luck with your application process.

thanks, im from cincy. this past year one kid from my school got accepted early decision and one got rejected for regular decision. i dont really understand it because the ne that got rejected apparently does better in school/on SAT's then the one that got accepted, but the one that was accepted was hispanic, which i also am, so hpefully that helps.

If the one that got rejected isn't that much better at school/SAT's, then it could be their essays. I'm pretty sure Wake puts a large importance on the writing in their apps. Though, being hispanic probably helped too.

honestly, no-one can really tell you your chances. Yeah you may have the sat in the range and the xtra-curriculars, but no-one knows your 'chance.' That's up to the Wake Forest admissions office to decide.
