What are my Chances?

Hi, I am currently a 7th-grade student about to finish off the school year and I am looking to apply to Phillips Andover in the fall. Do you think I have a good chance of getting in?

Grades(for most recent term):
English- A
Math- A+ (next year in accelerated math: chosen based on teacher rec., standardized test scores and grades)
Science- A
Social Studies- A+
Spanish- A+
Engineering- A

I have never gotten lower than an A except in health 6th grade B+ and 7th grade A-.

Extracurricular activities:
School Play 2(going to be three years) with possibility of being a student director in 8th grade
Greater Lawrence Academic Bowl www.crestcollaborative.org/enrichment/academic-bowl/ (2 Years)
WEB Leader (mentor incoming 6th graders)
Helped Seniors with early Alzheimer’s at local Senior Center remember past memories and make videos/scrapbooks for futre generations

Sports:
Soccer (7-8 years)
Cross Country (2 Years)
Track (1 Year)

Music:
Bass Guitar (3 years. Quit)
Starting Piano in the Fall

Volunteer Work:
Have volunteered and plan to volunteer much more in the Summer.

History:
Sister goes and will be an Upper in the Fall.

*won’t need financial aid

When are you applying? Are you skipping 8th grade…and going directly to 9th?

Sounds like OP finished 7th grade in June, is applying this fall…for 9th grade entry in Fall 2017…

Engineering is an interesting course… will you do it in 8th grade as well?.. Good EC’s your choice of Community Service stands out… You have legacy/sibling advantage too…If you just decided not to play the guitar because you just didn’t like it, don’t mention it too much in your application, you can mention off hand in your interviews that you did it for a while, but don’t use the word ‘quit’… Seems like you are good at soccer, contact the coaches at the school and maybe send demos of you playing… If you are good the coaches will advocate for you and the school might want to ‘recruit’ you. Coaches have pull in admission… You seem like a great candidate… Good Luck! :-bd
