What Are My Chances?

Hi! So I’m freaking out a bit because I want to get into a four-year university, but my chances to get in don’t look very good. Can you help me? I want to go to a public or private university in New England (a region in the United States), preferably in Connecticut, Massachusetts, or Rhode Island, for an ABET accredited Bachelor of Science (or similar, like Bachelor of Science in Engineering) degree in mechanical engineering (or chemical or civil after, as back-up majors, if it came to that). My grades are:
Junior year- final averages: (Key: CP1= college prep; the standard classes, H= Honors)
Algebra II - CP1 - 84
English - CP1 - 80
Physics - CP1 - 85
U.S. History - 80
Gym - CP1 - 91 (semester course)
Spanish III - H - 78
Wind Ensemble - H - 97
Computer Class - CP1 - 92 (semester course)
Senior year- first quarter: (Key: UW= UnWeighted (the course doesn’t count towards one’s GPA), AP= Advanced Placement)
Chemistry - CP1 - 95
English - CP1 - 90
Pre Calc. - CP1 - 70
Gym - CP1 - 91 (semester course)
Engineering Tech. I - UW - 97
Wind Ensemble - H - 99
Music Theory - AP - 90
Assume that I meet the credit requirements (like lab sciences or foreign languages because I already have).

My GPA’s 3.1 weighted and I’m 61st out of a class of 159 students.

My extracurricular activities include: (top ten’s what I’m putting in the Common App.)
Class Officers (13-14, 16-present) - Social Chair
Band Officers (15-present) - Uniform Manager (15-16), Vice President (16-present)
Basketball Coach - (16-present) (Volunteer)
Yearbook Officer (16-present) - Academic Editor
Track and Field (14- present) - Javelin, Discus, Shot Put, and 200 meter dash + Varsity letter after '14 season
Cross Country (16- present, though over) - Junior Varsity
Band ('13- present) - Bassoon, Flute, and Tuba
Robotics (team)- (16-present) - SolidWorks Engineer
Science Olympiad (16-present)
Debate (16-present) - on the Novice team
(Feel free to criticize my top ten as well)
Glee Club (13-14)
Yearbook Club (16- present)
Office Clerk/ Filer- (16- present) (Job)
(Upcoming) Musical (16-present) - roles that involve singing and am in a dance group
Civics Club (April-June 2016 (It was new)
Senior dance (16/ over)

My (New) SAT scores are 1170 (610 on Evidence-Based Reading and Writing and 560 on the math) combined with a score that was less in total, but had a better essay score (of 6 in reading, 5 in analysis, and 6 in writing).
I just really want to go to URI!!!
Thank you!!!

Bump!
I also want a school that has a track and field program and non-major-accepting music ensembles. Thank you!!

I would think your chances of getting into URI are pretty good based on what you have provided. Why do you think you won’t get in?

According to PrepScholar, the University of Rhode Island has an acceptance rate of 75%, an average GPA of a 3.3, and an average SAT score of 1200. Your chances might be a little slim, but if you pull your essays in and maybe get a better SAT score, you have a chance.

I found that URI has a track and field program. They also have a cross-country program. They also do have an ensemble program.

Thank you, ethanurban9!!
To lucky978, I think/hope I’m just nervous!

Not trying to be mean or anything, but an engineering major is going to be pretty difficult if you’re getting a 70 in pre-calc. Math builds upon itself a lot, and if you’re having trouble with the “basics” (at a college level) then it’s going to be hard for you to succeed in higher level classes. You should probably take some measures to try to raise that grade like staying at lunch or after school with your teacher to make sure you understand everything.

Thank you, wfootball126! I have been trying to do better, but maybe your suggestions are the way to go!

Update: I applied to CCSU, UCONN, and URI. I was accepted into URI for mechanical engineering, and CCSU for their mech. engineering tech program because my scores weren’t high enough to get into ME, and their honors program. I was regected from UCONN, which I applied to on a whim.
