What are my chances of getting into UCI, UCR, UCD, UCSC and SDSU as a domestic student?
SDSU: Match
UCR: Match
UCSC: High Match
UCD/UCI: Low Reach
Make sure you have 1-2 safeties. Your test scores are on target for the UC’s listed but GPA is below the 25th percentile for the Mid-tiers. Write some great essays and maybe these will give a boost.

@Gumbymom Thank you. My son got into computer Sc at UCR and SDSU and is waitlisted at UCSC. He also got into ASU and likes that as well. Would you recommend one over the other for the above 3 choices. ASU will be OOS but he got scholarship which makes it almost like in-sate. Both SDSU and UCR are not too far from where we live.
Congratulations to your son. My younger son is a current SDSU CS student and it was the right choice for him. He was also deciding between SDSU and UCR for CS and it really came down to which school he felt would be the best fit. He liked that SDSU was around 2 hours away, far enough from home so Mom couldn’t drop by often and close enough to make coming home easy. He took the Amtrak back and forth his first year since parking is an issue at SDSU.
I have a neighbor whom went to ASU for CS and was very happy with his experience there so another good option. Visiting each campus is important and that was what sealed the deal for my son at SDSU.
