These all seem to be reaches, especially Michigan. I’d try to add a couple match schools to your list as well. Purdue is probably the least prestigious university on your list and last year’s incoming class had an average GPA of 3.73 and an SAT of 1300.

Does it help if my weighted GPA is a 4.2?

It will help in that colleges will consider that your course-load was fairly difficult. I’d expect you to gain admission to one of these schools if you applied to them all, but you should seriously consider adding some back-up institutions to your list.

You will probably get into UMBC although UMCP may be a bit of a reach. Make sure your essays are almost perfect, that could really save your ass. You will most likely get into Illinois and Purdue looks somewhat safe for me too. Your biggest problems are your SAT and weighted GPA. AA might help you a little but its not magic. If I am being honest with you though about Michigan, do not take it the wrong way but my chances of sleeping with Blake Lively are higher man than yours with Michigan. haha, but does not hurt to take a chance. Make sure your essays are ungodly good if you even want to stand a chance in Michigan. I have some pretty good essay tips on my other account man, PM me if you the name of it. They got my daughter into all of her reach schools.

Oh yeah I definitely have safety schools but I just wanted to seem how much of a reach these schools were.

If it means anything I live in a single parent home with an annual income of like 60-70k. I have a pretty small family of three.

I think Purdue, Illinois, and maybe even UMCP are almost guarantees for you. I would suggest applying to schools like UMass, University of South Carolina, Pennstate, and UPitt. These would be good schools for you to apply to as well. To be frank, the single parent 60L to 70K will not help you at all since you are not even close to poor by US financial standards. You are above average. I agree with BrownUDad27 that Michigan is a stretch. The negs of your app include SAT, GPA, and class rank. The positives are your community service which looks nice. Your Teenage Republicans Club leadership actually looks pretty interesting. The fact that you live in a very blue state and are very young could appeal to colleges if you maybe include it in some of your supplements but word them carefully. They will make you look like you dont mind adversity of thought, public opinion, etc. This is something you could take advantage and could make a difference if you know how to. Good luck!

My SAT score is something I’m really trying to raise. During my freshman year of high school when I moved I kind of missed a good portion of school. In addition to this, many honors classes at my new school were at full capacity so I was kind of forced into taking easier classes. Instead of taking an honors algebra 2 class I took the lowest possible version of algebra 2. Needless to say I really didn’t learn much. But my plan improve my SAT score significantly in the November.

i think you are giving off a vibe of always giving excuses. Everybody has had problems, you just have to fight through them.

Have you considered ivy level University of Wyoming? Although it may be a bit of reach too.
