I attend a number 2 ranked high school in NJ and 48 ranked in the country. I’ve taken 10 AP courses, have a weighted GPA of 3.84, and an SAT score of 1440. Extracurricular wise I am the president of the math club, founder and president of the investors club, and the president of a club that helps with the homeless. I also participate in clubs like Student Council, the World Food Programme, and Peer Leadership. I’ve also interned at an investment bank, BBH, have taken online Wharton Courses, and take classes on Wall Street.
I am interested in studying Finance/Economics. What are my chances at schools like Rutgers NB (Honors College), Rutgers Newark (Honors College), University of Pennsylvania (Wharton), Cornell (AEM/Dyson), Princeton, Yale, Columbia, Boston College, Carnegie Mellon, and University of Virginia?
Ivies are a reach, as they are for pretty much everyone. SAT would probably need to be higher for you to significantly improve your chances at getting in.
Rutgers is pretty much a safety, will confess that I don’t know as much about how selective their honors college is. Boston College should be a safety. UVA is closest to a match, Carnegie Mellon and NYU are low reaches but not unrealistic at all.
None of these schools are unreasonable to be applying to, just be prepared to not get into most of the best ones. Business majors are pretty competitive at most of them.
As @futbolista said, all of these schools are definitely attainable. If you can, I would suggest trying to increase your SAT a bit - it would definitely help your chances. Also, on your application, try to focus on your extracurriculars, since that seems to be your strength.
If you have time, please chance me on my latest post.
I’d say a low reach to match for all of the non iveis, definitel match for Rutgers though. Chance me back please
