What are my chances of being accepted to an ivy league or Northwestern University? Around which colleges should I be aiming for? I am currently a sophomore.
Here are my academic stats:
- Freshman Year - World History Honors, German 1 Honors, Alg 2 Trig Honors, Symphonic Band, Chemistry Honors, English 1 Honors
- Sophomore Year - AP Computer Science A, Wind Symphony Honors (second highest band), AP Chemistry, AP Physics 1, English 2 Honors, Precalc Honors, and German 2 Honors
- PSAT 8/9 Scores: 720 math (max score), 660 reading&writing (these are from last year, I will be taking the PSAT 10 this year)
- Freshman year first semester I was in the top 10 percent of my class based on my GPA, my GPA has risen since then so I am not sure what percentage I am in now
- GPAs (on a 5.0 scale):
Freshman year: Unweighted - 4.1967 Weighted - 5.75 (I got a B in history first semester and I did not take honors band)
Sophomore year: Unweighted - 5.0 Weighted 6.0 (I currently have all As but it is very early in the year so it may change)
Extracurriculars
- JV Poms Team
- Novice Level figure skater for Moves in the Field (6th of the 8 levels)
- Science Olympiad/JETS team (possibly)
- Marching band/pep band
- Assistant figure skating coach (I don’t get paid, but it counts as volunteer hours)
- Marching band section leader
- Former member of a competitive dance team (I quit as it took up too much time)
Achievements:
- Qualified for an international dance competition (but I couldn’t attend as I had a time conflict)
- I received some academic awards in middle school
- Young Scholar (a program at my school for anyone who has a 5.0 weighted GPA or above)
Northwestern University is my dream school, but I am not sure if there is a chance I will get in. My mom used to work there and my brother went there for undergrad.
