What are my chances

(gpa 3.6 weighted
SAT 1260 with 6 APs and 4 honors with EC - Eagle Scout )
Lots of volunteering with Intership at Hospital
Major :Global Health
Instate
Thanks in advance

at UCSD

3.6 weighted is going to make it a reach, especially in-state. UC GPA?

SAT is kind of low too-can you take another one?

@Gumbymom is the resident expert for UCs.

Both your GPA and SAT score is below the 25th percentile for admitted students for 2018 Freshman. UCSD is definitely a Reach school. Hopefully you have some solid Match and Safety schools on your list.

2018 Freshman admit rates for UC GPA of 3.40-3.79 capped weighted and not major specific:
UCSD: 7%

2018 UC capped weighted GPA averages:
UCSD: 4.16

2018 Data:
25th - 75th percentiles for SAT:

UCSD: 1300-1520

you have a chance

Thank you All
@Gumbymom I have applied to also UCR( business) UCI ,CSU Fullerton.
Accepted : out of state University.
Yep its going to be tough for UCs
In CA . What are your thoughts on UCR?
I took SAT again in November might have 1290 super-score.

CSU Fullerton superscores but the UC’s do not. CSUF looks like a Match.

I think UCR is a High Match 50/50. Your GPA and SAT are within range but below the averages. UCI would be a Reach since they tend to be very GPA focused and GPA/SAT scores are on the low side.

UC admit rate for UC capped weighted GPA 3.40-3.79 and not major specific:
UCI: 7% UCR: 49%

Average UC capped weighted GPA for UCI is 4.13 and for UCR is 3.81.

25th-75th percentile SAT UCI: 1230-1490. UCR: 1130-1380.

Thanks so much for the input!

Would Merced be an option?

Yes, UC Merced would be an option if they have your major.

I will post all the UC admit data that I have for all campuses below:

2018 Freshman admit rates for UC GPA of 3.40-3.79 capped weighted and not major specific:

UCB: 1%
UCLA: 2%
UCSD: 7%
UCSB: 8%
UCI: 7%
UCD: 14%
UCSC: 33%
UCR: 49%
UCM: 82%

2018 UC capped weighted GPA averages:
UCB: 4.23
UCLA: 4.23
UCSD: 4.16
UCSB: 4.13
UCI: 4.13
UCD: 4.11
UCSC: 3.96
UCR: 3.81
UCM: 3.71

2018 Data:
25th - 75th percentiles for SAT:

UCB: 1360-1540

UCLA: 1340-1540
UCSD: 1300-1520
UCSB: 1270-1500
UCD: 1220-1480
UCI: 1230-1490
UCSC: 1210-1450
UCR: 1130-1380
UCM: 1020-1280

Did not apply to Merced @Gumbymom I have my total SAT score of 1320 as of November 3rd checked it on college board with Math 700 and English 620

So you are saying that your highest SAT score from a single sitting is 1320 and this score was submitted to admissions?

UC’s tend to be very GPA focused, so although you have a solid SAT score, your UC GPA will be an issue unless you go to a highly competitive HS with some grade deflation. In that case, your grades/GPA will be taken into consideration based on your HS.

Are you in the top 9% of your HS class or top 9% in the state? http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/freshman/california-residents/admissions-index/index.html

If so and you are ELC eligible, then if you are not admitted into your choice UC’s, then you could be offered a spot at UC Merced.
