better than mine, have confidence man. don't let ppl here tear you apart, that's what they did to many ppl, best of lucks
you have great chance, just like i do :)

judging by your race and sat scores i'd say you have an 70% chance.

thanks that would be great. any other ideas?

I think ull be in if u capitalize on one of your ec's and make it work in your essay and interview. Ur test scores are pretty decent and wont really hurt you.

I have decided to apply to wharton. are my chances still good?

Good Friend of mine , who is also black, had very similar stats to yours, and got in (early decision) ... if your essays are good, I think you've got an very good shot

My math standardized tests aren't the greatest and it definently is not my best subject in school (86 this quarter in AP Calculus AB). Will this hurt my chances?

AB calc will not give you any credit at penn and wharton wants people who are good at math I think

So am i screwed?

not completely, talk about why u did bad, like if it was the teacher or sumthin

I sent a seperate resume that highlighted all the karate tournaments i won and my two trips to nationals. i also wrote that i am hoping to be on the olympic team in 2008. Is this a good hook?

whatsup stan i think the only reason you were deferred harvard is those SAT scores... they probably want to see what the scores will be liek for african americans in general this year (last year was abominable - only 72 scored above 1500) try and take the january test and see how u do - if you get it up to or above 1400 I say youre in at wharton for sure.

also, are you applying to any other schools?

P.S. national karate sounds like a cool hook if you play it right.

My math teacher recently wrote a letter to Penn explaining how I skipped a year of math last year and that why im struggling in his class this year. Is this going to help me?

yes. just make it seem like you're trying really hard.

I wouldnt freak out about the math....im got in without taking ap or IIc. My IC and Sat Math were good but its not everything

OK thanks that makes me feel alot better.

Im just curious, my stats are similar to stan. how are his chances at college? It sounsd weird i know, askin bout someone else.

With mediocre SATs for an IVY, why would you want to go to a school where you will be average at best? Apply to a tier lower, like Wesleyan. You'll be happier and do better.

whoahh.... penn isn't all about SAT scores. like far from it... especially wharton i know the university seeks to diversify because they don't use a predominantly numbers-based approach, so i think u have a decent shot, although it really depends on the rest of the pool, good luck!
