What are my chances?

Hey, I know I've already posted some chances threads before but after browsing this site for awhile, the schools I thought I was going to apply as reaches to now seem to be completely out of my league and a waste of my precious time (Penn, Brown, Northwestern)! :-) so after revising my list a little bit I'm interested to see what you all think my chances would be at these revised schools, or any other additional safeties you might have:

Michigan (especially this one)
Northwestern
Missouri
Wisconsin-Madison
Hamilton
NYU
Tufts
Cornell (possibly? at all?)

also a question about michigan:
would it really help me to apply by mid-september to take advantage of rolling admissions?

thanks!

I think you are in at Michigan since your stats are well above average, even though you are out of state. I would even say that you have a fair chance at Cornell, since your GPA and SAT scores are definitely within their range, and you have a couple of decent ECs.

As for rolling admissions: YES. Apply as soon as possible, because if you wait until January, you will be rejected even with a 2400 and a 4.0 because those spaces fill up fast. The earlier you apply, the better chance you've got.

EDIT: By the way, even if you think a school is out of your league, if you would be very happy there and you think you have even a 1% shot, you should apply. That's why they're called reaches.

My sister just graduated from Cornell - she got in with a 1430 (white female). I checked campusapps.com - there are 20 Cornell acceptances, and SATs range from 1900-2370. For Hamilton the range is 1940-2200 for acceptance, and well you can check the rest. The point is that if you're close then definitely apply - these schools take a range of people, depending on who they need and your special qualities.

You have a fair shot at all the schools on your list right now. I might even urge you to apply to Northwestern...

Ya don't let CC intimidate you...if I were you I'd still apply to the others as well

I can only comment on Michigan. Apply as early as possible. I had higher SAT but lower GPA. I didnt get in, mainly b/c i submitted my app in December and also b/c of the lower GPA. But go for it, you have a great shot. Make it an even better shot by applying early.
