what are my chances?

<p>Hey, I'm a junior and I was wondering if anyone could tell me my chances of getting into Dartmouth, UPenn, Cornell.</p>

<p>GPA: 3.9 unweighted/4.1 weighted</p>

<p>My school doesn't rank, but top 10% if they did.</p>

<p>SAT: didn't take yet, on practice tests I've gotten around 710-730 on Writing, 670-680 on Reading, 680-700 on Math. I'm considering taking the
ACT, I don't know yet though (should I?)</p>

<p>SATIIs: I'm planning on taking SAT IIs later in the year for Bio, US History, and Math 1C.</p>

<p>APs: I took Euro and got a 3 =(, mostly because I screwed up the essays. I guess I had a bad day, I did get As every quarter in the class but my school has some inflation.
This year I'm taking AP US History & Government, AP Psychology, AP Biology, and AP Composition/Language, I'm doing really well in them so far, so I'm hoping for good AP grades (except Composition/Language, my teacher is horrible and we aren't learning anything, so I don't know how I'll do on the AP exam)
Next year (senior year) I'm planning on taking AP French, AP Calc AB or BC (haven't decided yet), AP Government possibly or AP Economics (I haven't decided, but one of those for sure), AP Physics (maybe, I don't know yet), and AP Literature.
In total, I will have taken 9 or 10 AP Tests by the end of senior year (depending on if I decide to take AP Physics or not).</p>

<p>ECs:
-Research projects: I'm going to be doing Seimens, Intel, Toshiba, etc.
-French Honor Society
-Art Honor Society
-National Honor Society
-Music Honor Society
-Track team, not captain or anything though
-Play clarinet--Marching Band and regular concert band
-Equestrian outside of school, not competitively though, it's too expensive =(</p>

<p>Volunteering:
-Reading to children at the library
-Helping disabled children horsebackride
-Helping out at various acitivites in the school--selling candy to raise money, etc.
-Tutoring kids in my school</p>

<p>I'm not sure what I'm doing for the summer, maybe getting a job? I also want to publish a book, but I don't know if I'll be able to finish it in one summer. I'm planning on entering essay competitions as well.</p>

<p>Good recs hopefully, and I'm fairly good at writing essays.
No legacy at any Ivy League.</p>

<p>Any estimates on my chances at Dartmouth, UPenn, Cornell, or similarly good colleges? Thanks in advance!</p>

<p>any advice would help =)</p>

<p>Looks like your grades are good but your tests are just mediocre for your college choices. Take the ACT and see how you do. If you do better than you do on the SAT's, choose the test you do best in and study to imrpove on only one and then use it for reporting.</p>

<p>Your EC's are weak because they all seem like academic honors, which are good for that category. Play up the reading and horseback riding and keep doing more of that. These schools love people who are selfless and do alot of volunteering.</p>

<p>Start thinking outside the ivies, too. Look at Johns Hopkins, Northwestern, Georgetown and some of the great Liberal Arts Colleges like Williams, Middlebury, Haverfordetc...Then plan for some back ups...there will be plenty of those for you.</p>
