UPenn match
Columbia match
Cornell match
NYU match/safety
Michigan match/safety

Thank you guys very much for replying :)
I just hope to be lucky enough to get into one of HYPS next year

anyone else who'd like to chance me?? (please)

You need amore balanced list. As a Korean you are an ORM. Your SATs are average for ivies. Your ECs unexceptional. There are lots of Canadian applicants.

NYU, UM yes. Cornell good shot. HYPSM unlikely.

to be honest the awards are quite weak

Ratings on a scale of: high reach, reach, semi-reach, good fit, likely, safety.

Harvard University... REACH.
Yale University... REACH.
Princeton University... REACH.
Stanford University... REACH.
Massachusetts Institute of Technology... REACH.
University of Pennsylvania... SEMI-REACH.
Columbia University... REACH.
Cornell University... SEMI-REACH.
New York University... LIKELY.
University of Michigan... GOOD FIT.

And yes, I agree with suze; you could definitely use a few more "good fit," "likely," and "safety" schools on your list. If you'd like some suggestions of schools, make another post or PM me with information about what sort of college you're looking for (small/medium/large, what areas of the country, a major you'd like, rural/suburban/urban, etc.) and I'll be sure to get back to you.

Actually..;
I'm also applying to Canadian schools, so if I cannot get into those universities, I'm planning to go to canadian ones.
but how can I improve my chances for getting into ivy league schools?

Anyone else????????
Any advices?

What are your IB subjects, distinguish between HL and SL (how demaning is it? 4 HL?) and what is your IB grade (if you get reports in IB grades)

Raise your CR score and try to get excellent recs and write a strong application.

If by Penn you mean Wharton, it's also a major reach.

I'm a senior ORM in Toronto also doing IB and I applied to a very similar set of schools and was rejected from all the Ivies and top universities I applied to (HY, Wharton, Stanford, Columbia etc.) except Princeton.

I'd say you're the type of person that would get in, but it really comes down to how you package yourself in your application. Visit your top choices this summer if you can, that will give you alot more to talk about in your essays especially for "Why this school" questions. I'd say your SATs are fine as they are...if you think you can get higher though it can only help you.

That being said you're also the type of person that can easily get rejected across the board (no offense though, virtually all ORM applicants without a hook are like that). I'd recommend applying to Chicago as another match school...it's highly underrated particularly in Canada where most people have only heard of HYP (you probably know what I mean).

Out of curiosity, what HS are you at? You can PM me if you want, I'd be happy to answer any other questions you have.

And my opinions:

Harvard University... REACH
Yale University... REACH.
Princeton University... REACH.
Stanford University... REACH.
Massachusetts Institute of Technology... REACH.
University of Pennsylvania... REACH.
Columbia University... SEMI-REACH.
Cornell University... GOOD FIT.
New York University... GOOD FIT.
University of Michigan... LIKELY.

Thank you guys all for replying :)

My HL courses are Chemistry, Economics, and English
and my SL courses are Mathematics, French and Biology
My predicted scores for math and french are 7s
and for other courses, I didn't get my predicted scores yet, but according to my ontario marks
I think they will be
Chemistry -7
Economics -7
English - 6
Biology- 7

where would you guys recommend me to apply for early?
actually, I would love to go to stanford.. but cuz I know that my stat is not very strong... I'm thinking of Columbia
and for New York university, I want to apply to Stern
would it still be good fit?

Stern is a good fit. I know people at my school with lower stats (although stats aren't everything) that got into Stern.

Don't underestimate Columbia (College) admissions. I got waitlisted by both Columbia and Stanford.

yeah....; I know that columbia is very selective;
but if I don't get into my first choice univerisites in the States,
I'm planning to go to canadian universiites.
so I'm only applying to the top universities even though my changes are not that great :)
I want to make sure that I apply (especially for early) to the universities that I would really like to go to.
Also, I think I won't apply for financial aid, so I don't want to waste so much money for going to an average university when I can go to top universities in Canada paying much less money. (since canadian universities are not very selective of course;;)

that is the major reason why my list is not very balanced.

If I get about 2300 in SAT and get more awards, would I have a higher chance when I apply early to stanford or columbia??

(I know that harvard, yale and wharton are HUGE reaches for me..; )

SAT no, awards maybe (depending on what awards you're talking about). I was pretty much the same as you...I figured if I didn't get into any of my top choices in the states I'd go to Queens or Western in Canada. You don't necessarily have a higher chance to get in Stanford because it's EA, but Columbia is ED so your chances are probably a bit better.

That said I wouldn't apply to Columbia ED unless it's definitely your first choice. You have a decent chance to get in anywhere.

Thank u very much LionsOnAPlane!
Hopefully I will have better stats by next year and get into Princeton and meet you next year lol

Looking forward to it XD

Anyone Else :) ???
