What are my chances?

i really hate to say this, but i'm not in love with your chances for getting in. i'm also an asian male and was admitted ED this year so i can (hopefully) see more from your point of view (although i've lived in the US all my life). are you a senior right now who has already submitted the application, or are you a junior planning to submit next year? if you're a junior, i'd definitely consider retaking a few of your SATII's, particularly writing. its quite common in admissions offices to see very strong math/science students who are weaker in language, and this plays against you. i agree with the previous poster who recommended playing up the fact that you've only been here 2.5 years. also, do you have any awards or special recognitions to go along with the EC's? its great to be in activities, but what really helps you is when you excel at what you do. also, i'm not sure where jpsi got his/her statistics (not to say they're not true, but i haven't seen them), but here are some off of collegeboard.com:

I find it hard to believe that people average 70 hours of volunteering a week. That's 10 hours a day. Assuming you're at school for 7 hours, and you're sleeping at least 4 (you crazy no sleep people), that leaves 3 hours a day to do homework and actually live a little bit. Therefore, false.

OP: Your volunteering is just fine. My only volunteering is through National Honor Society, and it's really not that much, and I got in ED. Therefore, volunteering is not /that/ important.
