What are my chances?

<p>I have been thinking about applying ED to Brown. I don't know if it's a waste of time or not. I know I probably wouldn't get in RD because its one of those colleges where kids from my high school apply to after they have been rejected ED from Harvard, Princeton, Yale, etc...so I wouldn't stand a chance against them. Here are my stats:</p>

<p>HS: public, very competitive, sends a lot of kids to top schools
class size: 300ish
rank: doesn't rank (but prob. in the top 5-10% according to my guidance counselor)
gpa UW: 3.936 (W = 4.174)
SATS: 720 CR, 720 M, 680 W
SAT IIS: 700 Math IC, 740 Bio M
recommendations: they should all be amazing, my GC and teachers love me, and my 2 teachers have had me in classes since i was a freshman.
essay: I think it's very original. I am a very good writer. I know how to show my voice and sense of humor.
other stats: I'm white, middle class, female</p>

<p>My ECs aren't that great, especially coming from my school:
Peer Tutoring Club - president (grade 9-12; pres. 12)
MAGIC Foundation - pen pal (grade 9-12)
Key Club (grade 9-12)
Relay for Life - Team Captain (grade 9-10)
Hebrew High School (grade 9-12)
Island Harvest volunteer (grade 9-12)
MS Foundation and American Cancer Society (grade 9-12)
JV Softball (grade 9-10)
Summer Study @ Penn State University (summer into 11th grade - took psychology class, got an A)
North Shore Health System - Summer Aide (summer into 12th grade)</p>

<p>Honors:
National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society
Academic Achievement Awards: AP Euro(grade 10), Chemistry(grade 10), Math(grade 10), AP Bio(grade 11), Precalc(grade 11), Spanish IV(grade 11)
Media Arts Show - best in show
participated in two science research competitions (can't think of the names right now) - awarded honorable mentions</p>

<p>So...what do you think my chances are at Brown if I apply ED???</p>

<p>You have a chance, especially E.D., but there are thousands of kids across the country with amazing stats applying to the Ivies. Try to find something that will make you stand out.</p>

<p>thanks for your input. I'm also applying RD to Emory, Cornell, Tufts, Wesleyan and Brandeis. </p>

<p>is anyone else going to chance me??</p>

<p>oh and what does it mean when people say "bump" on here? Sorry, I'm new at this :-P</p>

<p>"Bump" is just another way of bringing up your post if you want more responses.</p>

<p>Anyway, I think you have a decent shot at Brown, but I am not going to say its very likely. I think you just need something to make you really stand out. Whether that will be in your essay, or somewhere else, I don't know. Just make sure you show them that your unique have some passion.</p>

<p>As to the other schools, they are a better fit and I think that Tufts, Wesleyan, and Brandeis are probably the most likely.</p>

<p>Tufts is as hard to get into as Cornell A&S.</p>

<p>bump. there's a party next door and they are being so freaking loud...anyone else wanna chance me please??</p>

<p>You have a chance, but.. Brown is very very selective.... ..... and there doesn't seem to that much that stands out. You will have to make those essays as good as possible... ... and hope that your recs glowing.</p>

<p>thanks. I think my essays and recs are going to be pretty good and show that I'm unique (or at least I hope, haha). I guess it doesn't hurt to try. Besides, if I don't apply at all, I definitely won't get in! haha.</p>

<p>anybody else have an opinion?</p>
