Okay down to business. I know with my grades right now I don't stand much of any chance of getting into UVA. But I was wondering about this. I am planning on taking the spring and summer semester at my local Community college and then going to VCU for the fall. If i keep at least a 3.5-6 in the college classes would that be enough for ADM to over look my HS grades? If thats not long enough then what is?

I plan on majoring in Computer Science/Marketing.
I will minor Japanese(East Asian) or creative writing.

I'm certainly no expert (I don't live in VA), but from reading this message board I've learned there are guaranteed transfer agreements between VCCC's and UVa. In other words, go to a VCCC, finish out two years with a 3.6 or so (I don't know the specific requirements), and you're in. In my opinion, any VA resident who doesn't take advantage of this opportunity is out of their mind.

I think it's kinda unfair. Not specifying the poster, but someone who works SUPER hard in high school AND someone who doesn't work hard in high school and goes to VCCS can both go to UVA? That's defintely unfair!!!!

But the poster has worked hard and deserves to go to UVA. I think you have good chances.

Darincus,
Do not wait to apply! Your chances of getting in now are excellent. Contact the admissions office and ask to speak with one of the counselors who works with minorities.
Your stats will get you in.
