My stats are:
SAT1: CR-500(i know it sucks), Maths-700, Writing-580 with 8 on essay.
SAT2: Maths2c-750, Physics-730, Chemistry-740</p>
<p>GPA: 3.75, Class rank- top 2% of my graduating class
recos from physics, english and Guidance counselor- good</p>
<p>ECAs- decent</p>
<p>application essays- guess they are goin to be good</p>
<p>rank and gpa are great for whitman. sat is mediocre so take it over. I think the 8 on writing would hurt the most at a lac. Try taking the act if you can..they accept either</p>

<p>Lewis and Clark, Willamette, and University of Puget SOund would all be safeties but still in the pacific northwest.</p>
<p>Your biggest weakness is your SAT writing score. </p>
<p>Whitman is a writing school. No matter what you "major" in, your degree is in writing. Even those physics students become good writers.</p>
<p>So:
1) Retake the SATs. now. Focus on the SAT writing.
2) Write a damn good application essay.
3) Emphasize your international status. If you're brown, make sure they know it. Whitman is fantastic, but it is desperate for ethnic diversity. Make sure they know you're international.</p>
<p>Your SAT math score and High School class rank are nearly identical to mine, and I was accepted with honors. </p>
<p>Pull up that SAT Writings score and you should be OK.</p>

suppose if i give it and score abt 610-630 in writing and cr frm 500 to abt 550-570 ..wud that increase my chances?</p>

GPA: 3.3 ( This sucks) but I have good grades throughout my secondary school. (Spoilt my finals badly)
SAT: CR: 590, Maths 700 Writing : 680 with a 10 on the essay ( Taking it again in January maybe I can pull the CR to 650-670 not sure about other sections)
ECAs--good I guess ( Leadership, Theatre, a good working experience and much more)
Application Essays- I got deferred at Dickinson for my ED1 and the people said my essays were good. I am still working on them.
Recos-- Must be good
Will my GPA preclude my chances at Whitman? like if I manage to pull up my SAT in Jan, do I have chances?? I am applying for aid by the way.</p>

<p>I would say focus more on your essays than the SAT essay. The SAT is the 6th most important thing Whitman considers, and they know that well planned essays are more indicative of your writing abilities than an unprepared 25-minute one is. I got an 8 on the essay portion of the SAT, and I got in early admission. Your application essays are much more important than the SAT one is.</p>
<p>There are not a whole lot of safety schools in the US if you are an international student seeking financial aid in large amounts. Even Lewis & Clark doesn't offer financial aid that meets full need like Whitman does. Of those schools listed Whitman has the most financial resources per student.</p>
