Okay, I have a 3.6 GPA. I take AP and Accelerated classes. I help out a home business that hinders my ability to do school activities( A dog kennel). I did, however, do CAP for a little while. My only problem is my standardized test scores. I recieved a 22 on my ACT and a 1040 on my SAT(490 math and 550 critical reading). I recieve mostly As and Bs. More As, though than Bs.

I know I can rack up some good teacher recommendations, though. Since it's a liberal arts college, I know for a fact that I'm getting one from my AP Lit. and Comp. teacher.

My senior year I'm going all accelerated: AP Biology, AP langauge and Comp., AP History, AP American Govt., Calculus, and German 4.

As far as AP classes go, I think I'll do above average. My final grade in my first AP class was a B.

What are my chances realistically?

Thanks in advance for any inputs.

Adding a bit more info. I got a 570 on my writing portion of my SAT. I want to write an essay too. Is there a specific topic or can I make my own. Since I want to enter their modern languages program, I want to write about my Straight As from German 1 to 3, my interest in international studies, and my ability to contribute to the program. Sound good?

Looking at others with problems, it looks like I have no chance. I heard that they do not make the standardized tests the deciding factor though. For some reason I don't do too great on them. I'm applying the very second I start my senior year.

Krieger, I'm in the exact same boat, 440 math and 590 cr, but my gpa is a 4.03 and i have tons of community service, I'm going to just apply early and see what happens, also my guidance counselor is a Loyola alum so I am going to email her and see if she can think of any other suggestions for getting in good luck!

I think rejected I had 1260/1600 with very good EC's and got waitlisted early action

JR- Do you mind sharing your GPA? My D just visited there and the counselor told her she had a good chance with lower SAT's. Her GPA is 4.18 weighted (top 10% of 300), 1190 SAT, and good EC's.

My D will be a sophomore there this year. She loves Loyola! She did not have high SAT's or lots of honors classes. I think it's important to show a geniune interest in the school. She visited the Loyola recruiter when they came to her high school; she did an optional interview on campus; and also answered the "optional" essay above and beyond the common application. She did apply EA. Her high school GPA was around a 3.5, if I recall. She had lots activities and athletics. I wouldn't discourage anyone from applying.

yea its hard to convert it but its 9.6/12

yes a 12 point scale but A+= 12, A=11

so my gpa was a little above a B+ and I went to a private school in connecticut

but freshstart is absolutely right, show a lot of interest which i failed to do to that extent. Yes i did visit the campus but i didnt do an interview and things like that
