-Based on my chances of getting in/acceptance rate, which schools should I apply EA/ED to? Which colleges should i take out of/add to my list? And What are my chances of being admitted to these schools?

you have a decent shot at most of the schools…
the only difficutly might be ut at austin…just cause u r out of state.
but ur list is too big…apply early to austin…if u want to go there early…

ur list should be 6-8 colleges…so knock it down some..

I think I’ll eliminate U of Texas - Austin since I’m hearing that it’s harder to get into than UC Berkeley/Stanford for out-of-state students…
Should I apply early to University of Maryland-CP (1st choice)?

Well If Its First Choice…then Apply To Maryland Early!

in everywhere except UT

Does EA/ED really increase your chances of getting in?

Well for UT purposes, what is your rank? they really emphasize rank

I decided not to apply to UT. I’m pretty sure I’m not getting in… And I’m pretty sure my school doesn’t rank.
What are the advantages of applying EA/ED?

i think you have chances for all of those schools, except, yea, maybe the ut austen bc of out of state, but i would retake your sats like you were planning on doing.
definitely apply early wherever you wnat to go as your first choice, it does help because its a smaller pool of people.

But isn’t it also true that the smaller pool of people that apply EA/ED have better statistics than the people who apply later?

there isnt early at UT-Austin or UMD-CP. Texas has rolling, MD has this priority thing where if you get in your application by like 12/1 or 12/15, then you have a slightly better shot.

I think UT-Austin is the hardest one on your list and prob umd would be a reach/high match. One of my friends applied OOS (NJ) and got in spring semester, not fall tho. She had like a 3.7 something 1800, 1200 something/1600. You’ve got a good shot, I just think you’re not gonna be a shoe-in by any stretch at maryland

I looked at some Stat Profiles of People who got in UMD-CP and most of the ones who had similar stats as me were admitted for the Spring Semester. So… If you do get in Spring Semester, …what do you do in the fall semester??

bump (10 char)

Oh, my friend had that happen to her. Well, family friend. I think she is taking a few evening/night courses at UMD, although she isnt a student. And she is living in an apartment close to the school with a bunch of other students who got in spring semester. I think you can do that or maybe take CC (community college) courses at home.

Suppose if you don’t do anything during the fall semester… how hard is it to recover from falling behind one semester?

I don’t know exactly, but lets think about it logically. Typically, you’ll take 4 courses/semester. So to graduate in the spring of 2013, you would need to take 4 semesters of 7 with 5 courses instead of 4. Or you could graduate in the fall of 2012 and take 4 throughout.

These are just specualtions, so I would try calling the admissions office if you have more specific questions. I think you have a good shot, and I would get in your app before 12/1 for a slightly better chance. If you do end up getting in for the spring semester, I would call maryland and ask them all your questions. good luck!
