What are my chances?

Homeschooled, multiracial female going into engineering
Graduating after junior year
from Charleston wv
SAT: 1490
ACT: 33
SAT2s: chem - 760, writing - 710, Math2c - 800
2 APs so far, chem and stats, 5ed both... doing physics C, economics, psy, bio and calc bc this year (i self teach all APs - do they care?)

no clubs to speak of... it's a small homeschool organization... i play guitar and keyboard, no awards. quite a few math competition awards... coached Mathcounts team one year, got about 80 hours of service...

recommendation letters, not as good as could be if i waited another year... one college professor, a chess coach, and a science lab instructor.

Dad is an alum, spent grad school at case.

some summer programs: college prep at WVWC and an engineering thing at Marshall

can anyone honestly evaluate my chances? thanks in advance :) do you think i would have any chance for really good financial aid, if i get in? any comments would be appreciated, since I have no idea where I stand (and i'm sure the homeschooled/early admission things would throw a bit of a wrench into admissions decisions)

ya you got no chance you are MADD DUMB GURL. um basically I would say you have a good shot, but then again, I'm not an admission officer.

You should definately get in with your high test scores and grades; however, you will need to make sure to hightlight ANY EC's in which you are involved. Case is really looking for more active students in order to dispell their "nerdy, boring, book-worm students" stereotype. If you are active in a church, be sure to list that. Any volunteer work should also be listed. Good luck and be sure to tell us how it goes!

I'd say you're definitely in. My boyfriend got in with 1280 SATs, 25 ACT and a few ecs.

Excellent chance, but remember they had around 7,700 people apply this year (5,500 which overwhelmed them last year - they had to be shocked this year too). Always remember to apply to other schools that you would like to attend just as much as Case (in case fin aid is a factor too). I have seen so many disappointed kids with scores as high as yours get into none of the schools that they applied to or who can't afford to attend the ones they did get into.

That being said, Case is a wonderful school & my son will have the privelege of attending this fall (YEAH!). By the way, he was homeschooled from 3rd - 9th grade so congratulations on your academic accomplishments. I wish you luck!

PS - make sure you check out their homeschool requirements (you will find it under the prospective students section). Make sure that whatever they require you to do is flawless.
