I currently go to a international baccalaureate (IB) public school in New York. I currently have a 95 UW GPA and will graduate in the top 5% of my class (probably 6/180). I recently scored a 1860 on my SATS (700 M, 550 CR, 610 W). I am involved in a good number of extracirricular activities. I recently got a part time job, I volunteer(ed) at a total of two nursing homes, I am a member of bio diversity, habitat for humanity and WEME(card making organization for senior citizens.) I have 150+ hours of volunteer work including volunteering at a church. Additionally, I am a member of National Honor Society, as well as Spanish National Honor Society and Math National Honor Society. I am also a member of club 90, and have received two awards for student of the month in history and psychology. I will have great recommendations and a great essay. Also, I am technically considered "Caucasian" on the application even though I am Arab-American (so no URM). The one problem that I see with my application is that I do not have any leadership positions in any of my clubs. I also currently have a 680 on Math Level I (on the second retake from 560) and still have to take Biology which I am expecting at least 650.

I will be applying to Arts and Sciences.

What are my chances? What if I get a 1950-2050 on my SATS the second go around?

Thanks!

you really need to improve your test scores. you would need above a 2000 to be competitive (at least in the 2100s)

If you improved your test scores significantly you have a very good shot

Your test scores might raise suspicion on how easy your school is. Especially your SAT II scores, which aren't typical of an A+ student.

Raise your standardized test scores, and you might have a shot.

have other students at your school gone on to cornell?

i'd ask your school counselor or students who have gone on to cornell what their SATS have been...

If you crack the 2050-2100 mark on SAT, I would say you have a decent shot. Another thing of concern is that as you said, you lack leadership positions on ecs. If those two issues could be improved by the time you apply, your chances would improve dramatically.

You should definitely retake the SATs because an 1860 is not helping you at all. Anywhere from 2100+ would be nice. Also consider retaking your SAT II's because (especially if they're in your intended major) they should be 700+.

i'll say it again...your SATs are relavent to your classmates/high school/state/region...

ask your high school counselor for a high school profile of your school and see how you compare to your mates...just be higher than they are and you'll be decent shape if you cant get above 2100 or w/e

Your SATs are your weak point. You state that you are a non-URM NY resident so I doubt you are a development candidate. Maybe take a SAT prep course or really focus on CR and WR as well as your SAT2s. You might also want to apply to one of the land grant schools to save $ on tuition.
