Hey guys,

I was just wondering what my chances would be of getting into Rutgers. I'm an entering Senior this year.

Here what i have so far:

GPA: 3.1 w (i know its not so great, but only one aspect) It might also be up to 3.4w (it's a weird situation about transferring.)
SAT: 1860; 700 Math, 590 Writing, 570 Reading
ACT: 28
by the way, i will be retaking both of those very soon

Next Year I'll be taking
AP Econ
AP Stats

I've already taken (didn't do so well though)
AP World History - 1
AP United States History - 2
AP Physics B - 3

Varsity Tennis for 2 Years
Track and Field for 2 Years
Cross Country for 1 year

Taken Computer Science at my local CC and got an A
Taking Visual Basic there now

Community Service: I also have been serving at my church every other week since February.

In about 3 clubs. I'm also planning on creating one this coming year.

Ethnicity: African American

So what do you think?

Tough one. Your test scores are fine. Hard to say how admissions will look at your grades.

If you like RU, go for it. You have a chance, particularly if you are a NJ resident.

Good luck.

Alright, so possibly a reach???

by the way i am out of state.

I think your going to get in.

thank you very much! :)

If you're applying to the School or Arts and Science, I say you'll get in. SAT score isn't that bad. That score would get you admitted here, especially if you were in-state, but it wouldn't hurt to take it again if you want to.

I don't think your ethnicity would matter much to Rutgers, just a tidbit too add.

Your AP scores may indicate problems with your study skills, as do your grades. If you can raise your grades this year, it will help. Ethnicity is not a factor in admissions at Rutgers.

I don't think your going to get in unless you raise your GPA and SAT.3.1 is very low even for AP classes. You seem to be somewhat well rounded with your extracurriculars, but there are students with far better stats that have been wait listed.Sorry to sound like a drip, but the truth of the matter is is that I've heard students with 3.6 GPA's from County Colleges getting rejected.Disregard whatever these other yo'yo's tell you about.."your in" or " if your in state your as good as accepted".That's not how it is.I have good friends at admission who are telling me that the bar is set extremely high now.Rutgers is looking for the best students.I hope you get in,I don't like seeing anyone get rejected from a school of their choice...good luck
