What are my chances?

What do you think my chances are?

female
Puerto Rican
Pennsylvania
GPA: 3.93 unweighted
SAT: CR-730, Math-730, Writing-770
ACT: 33
AP: Chem, Bio, World History, US History, French
Honors: Chemistry, English, Euro History
I take all the AP honors classes my school because it is so small (16 in my graduating class and we’re considered a large class) offers but my AP scores and SAT II scores weren’t good because I always freeze up on big tests. My school is also affiliated with a college so I’ll have taken three classes there by the time I graduate.

With the heart of a lion, you look good!

I agree with pinkfeather in thinking that your chances are very solid.

First, in regard to the numerical part of your application... your standardized test scores are both higher than those of the average accepted student at Vassar, and your GPA is fantastic. In addition, your classes sound suitably challenging. One recommendation with your SAT II scores... if you're really unhappy with them and don't want the admissions office to see them, don't send in your SAT I score (just use your ACT). Unfortunately, students are not able to pick and choose which tests collegeboard sends in: if you request to have your SAT I sent, your SAT II scores will be sent as well.

In addition, your extracurriculars also look quite good and your awards are decent. You do a lot, and you look to do it consistently, which is what colleges like to see. That being said, be sure to stress on your application the things that have been most meaningful to you. After all, the last thing you want to have happen is come off as someone with a massive laundry list, but little passion behind it.

Overall, I feel that Vassar is a good fit for you. You're in the 75%-quartile for all of the numerical categories; however, because Vassar is so selective, I wouldn't want to encourage you to think of the school as a likely or safety.

I definitely don't think of Vassar as a safety school. One of the smartest guys I know goes there. :) Too bad I didn't think of only sending in ACT scores before. That is actually a brilliant idea that you presented there. No one has ever actually even suggested that to me. Coming up next year I think, students will have the option of which scores to send (lucky them!) but the rule doesn't apply to this year unfortunately.
