What are my chances?

I posted this on the What are my chances board but I was hoping I could get a better insight here.
Ok so here goes. I am a white jewish female from NJ (no points there!) If it matters I was born in England moved here in 96. So anyway I guess I’ll list my stats and where I"m interested in and please, any feedback will be read. (I was going to say appreciated but I may not appreciate it but I will certainly read it lol)

GPA: 93.5 unweighted (huge upward trend, junior year gpa about 97)

SAT: 730 CR 710M 660W = 2100 (Am retaking June, shocked by writing score, hopefully it will improve-practice tests were like 750s)

SAT II: haven’t taken yet, will take oct/nov in us history, math IIC and maybe lit.

Classes: taking 4 AP’s total, max that school allows, and am in honors for math and science. I attend an extremely rigorous, dual curriculum school, which means that in addition to math, science, history, english I have four other judaic classes every day.

APs: us history, biology, english, calculus AB

Rank: It is a very small, very competitive school, that doesn’t rank. My rank would be approx 15/50 (50 is the biggest grade we’ve ever had!) Which I know looks bad but It needs to be taken in context.

ECs (prob my weakest point other than class rank):
Student Ambassador Committee : 9, 10, 11, 12
Drama Club: 9,11,12
Newspaper: 11,12 (reporter, then world news editor)
Charity committe: 9, 12 - (possibly chair of committee, TBA)
Literary Journal: 12
Worked as Youth Leader in my synagouge: (8,9,10,11,12)
Worked as Youth Leader in backyard camp during summer (9,10,11)

Well I guess thats it. I’ve been to visit Barnard and I really loved it and I would love to hear feedback from people who are there. Thanks!

bump please!

You definitely sound like Barnard material, but I'm dismayed at the great applicants who get waitlisted. There are too many totally qualified applicants right now. So I guess the question is how can you distinguish yourself? I suggest start working on an essay this summer. Think about something you feel passionate about. Don't spend one more minute worrying about stats--they're fine. Instead spend time reading, thinking, acting on something you really care about and take a strong interest in. Go deep rather than wide. Also demonstrate in your application that you LOVE Barnard and explain very specifically why.

I'm always hesitant in answering these "what are my chances" posts, but I totally feel for you.. because last year, when I was in your position, I was asking the same thing!

I think though, all advice must be taken with a grain of salt.. and remember that there is no single piece of advice/feedback that should be taken as bible.

I'll try and give you a little insight from my own experience... perhaps that will be of more help to you.

I had solid ECs and leadership positions, and pretty good grades.. but I think what got me into Barnard was my personal essay/short reponses.
My SATs were rather low.
I got the impression from Barnard admissions .. that they really take the time to get to know each and every applicant... And even the short answer questions reflect that. They really seem to be interested in each individual.
I'd say, blow them away with your essay!!! And I guess you could do with improving your SATs if you can... it will just help you if anything.
Best of luck!! :-)
Hope to see you at Barnard!

Oh...And like I said to the other girl, if Barnard is your number one choice.. then go for ED!
