11th 1st semester i got a 3.64 but im really fighting to get a 4.0 UW these next two semesters.

i took some really challenging courses in tenth grade
like spanish 3 after 1 year of spanish
and precalculus.

My HL's are
Math HL
Economics HL
English HL
+maybe Physics HL and Psych HL

im also hoping to work for the local planetarium

i wanted to study physics or economics in college.

my dream school is university of chicago... id also like cornell...but ill settle for lafayette or rochester...my dad wants me to go to princeton

i think i am more cut out for liberal arts small schools like:

Wesleyan
Swarthmore
Lafayette
Trinity
Reed
Colby
Claremont

what do you think?

forgot to add im an indian going to an american international school in bombay. i have an indian passport…does that hurt my chances

What is your rank or percentile in comparison to other students in your school. I think Swarthmore would be a high reach and Wesleyan a decent reach.

im in the top 15%. what about the other schools?

Do you need financial aid? It often makes a big difference for internationals.

not necessarily…but i wouldnt mind applying for it

i wouldnt mind going to umichigan, carnegie mellon, UIUC, UCSD or UCSB as ive heard they all have good physics programs… i forgot carleton…

You have a decent shot for Carnegie Mellon University and a really good shot for Rochester. However, there is a large difference between “hoping for 2300+” and getting 2300+. Don’t get me wrong, i hope you do, but you really need to take the SATs to get a rough idea of where you stand in terms of strenght of application.

You certaintly have a strong resume however, being an indian myself, I feel that holding an Indian passport does have it disadvantages. A large number of indians from around the world apply making it difficult. There is no limit on the number of indians accepted but still.

Wesleyan - Reach
Swarthmore - High Reach
Lafayette - Match
Trinity - Match
Reed - I dont know
Colby - I dont really know
Claremont - Reach
UMich - Match/Reach
Cornell - Reach
Rochester - Safetyish
U Chicago - Reach/High Reach
UIUC - Safetyish
UCSD - Safetyish
UCSB - Safety

All my assumptions are based on the fact that you havent gotten your SAT scores yet. However, even if you get 2300+, it still doesnt make many of the colleges above any easier to get into. They are all top notch colleges.

All the very best! I hope you get above 2300 for your SATs

if u can get a 2300+, or even a 2200+, you have an amazing chance for most of these, besides claremont, swarthmore, and wesleyan… if you can really improve your gpa a lot, im sure you’ll have a better chance
good luck with your SAT!

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/703135-what-universities-should-i-look-safeties-matches-reaches.html</a></p>

really? even claremont…i know that it is hard to get into…but with a 2300 its still hard?

any other college suggestions…anybody at all??? please help…!

Colgate, Grinnell, Oberlin

my only problem with grinnell and oberlin is that…yes they are gr8 colleges…but they are in the middle of cornfields…thats not something i can live with…colgate seems viable…i dunno how strong they are in physics/economics/math/engineering though?

bump please!

bump bump bump

with those SAT scores I think you can get Cornell. Although your GPA might be slightly low, I think your decent ECs balance it out. I’m confident you can get into Cornell, ROchester and UMich. I’m not so sure about the others because I don’t know too much about them.
Chance me back?
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/708592-chances-getting-into-brown-2.html</a></p>

can anyone chance me for my liberal arts…etc

Being Indian and needing financial aid makes things very tough. You will do better at the schools that get few applicants from Asia and India in particular. It’s worth throwing in applications to all of these LACs, but if you’re counting on a US college you may need to embrace the cornfields. The top LACs can choose from not only kids at the top of their class but that are the top students in your country. And they have less aid for internationals than they’ve had in recent years.

Wesleyan-low reach
Swarthmore- reach (for everyone, really)
Lafayette- match
Trinity-match
Reed-high match
Colby-match
Claremont- not too familiar-sorry!
