anyone? help please, i would really appreciate it.

Your test score is a little low and your EC aren’t overwhelming, but seem good enough. The ivies are probably a bit of a reach with that score. Maybe try the SATs and some SAT IIs. For Cornell I know admissions requires at least two SAT IIs anyways.

Thanks a lot! I am better with the ACTS and I have a good feeling that I will improve a little bit considering I only studied the week before the test. Regarding the SAT II’s, I took chemistry sophomore year and didn’t have the best day. I will be taking two or three more in June. I will most likely take Math I, Math II, and History. I have more E.C’s and will be expanding on them during the summer. Plus I am just giving an overview of the main things I do. I understand my score now is a reach for the Ivy’s, but I hope to bring it up a little bit. You think it is too low for the other schools mentioned?

With current stats you need fewer reaches and more matches and safeties.

You’re definitely looking good so far for Villanova and Fordham. You have a solid chance at BC and an iffier chance at Georgetown, but your chances at all the schools mentioned will improve drastically if you get in the 32-33 or above range (try taking a timed practice test in addition to studying material; the ACT timing is definitely more squeezed than the SAT).

Mostly just wanted to post to mention that you definitely shouldn’t take the Math II AND Math I SAT IIs—if you can manage a high score on the Math II, then definitely just take that one, but if you think the material is too challenging then take the Math I for a better score (the curve is tougher though). Also, note that Georgetown is one of the 3 colleges in the country that requires 3 SAT IIs, so you might want to throw in a foreign language, additional science, or English lit SAT II too. Good luck! You’ll definitely get into a great college.

Thanks for the feedback everyone!

To hmom5,
what are some schools you recommend?

Check this out…
[Ivy League ACT Scores - Compare ACT Scores for Ivy League Schools](Ivy League ACT Score Comparison for Admission)
I understand that the ACT is only part of the application process, but this information shows that I do have a chance at the schools. All the websites and even the college’s websites have shown that I am on target. I will improve my score; I am confident. I will improve my EC’s. I do more stuff in and out of school, but I just listed my major EC’s and community service.

Keep in mind that 40% of the class at all ivies are hooked: recruited athletes, legacies, URM, development. Most non hooked students have stats close to or above the 75th percentile numers. Read the common data sets to understand how it breaks down and then exclude the 40% who can have lower than median scores. Very few unhooked candidates are getting into ivies with a 30 on the ACT.

We would need to know class rank to really give schools. If you’re in the top decile you have a reasonale shot at schools you would not if you’re not.

i am in the top 10 of my class

with your test score and slightly low GPA (4.1/5.0 is solid, but not amazing) you might have a harder time with UPenn, Columbia, Cornell ,and Georgetown. The last four you listed, I think you have a pretty good shot with :P

Thanks, my GPA might be slightly higher though. I’ll have to check up on what my GPA is out of because I thought it was out of 4.0.

Does it help at all that I am related to a couple alumni of Georgetown (One graduated first in his class).

help anyone?

anyone there?

Yeah, your chances for all of the ivies besides Cornell is pretty slim. I think Fordham and Nova look more reasonable. Sorry, but I guess someone somehow had to break it to you lol. Stern is a reach with that ACT.

If you just get your ACT to a 32+ I think you will be fine with your original list.

I understand I have to improve my ACT score and I am confident I will. I only studied the week before and got that score, which is not bad at all. What about BC? Plus my GPA is out of a 4.0 scale - my school does not do 5.0 scale. I feel that I am pretty well rounded and I am even going to further improve my EC’s and community service this upcoming summer.

thanks, anyone else?
