What are my chances?

oh and i know that im #1 ranked but the #2 girl is only 0.02 points behind me and we are taking equally weighted classes this year…so it will be kind of an epic battle.

i ended up taking AP Statistics Online as my 7th class.
oh, and i have officially founded a school math team. not sure if that means much, but we are planning to go to competitions and all that. same with SGA. this is our first year to go to district meetings and stuff.

hey there!

I’d say your looking to be a decent match for JHU/Lower Ivies/Caltech (with maybe a tad higher SATs). The upper tier schools (HYPS kinda deals) would probably require a higher SAT score/more ECs from what I’m reading. Just make sure those essays are airtight and spotless when you right them!

best of wishes

legacy will only help you if it turns out to be between you and another student w/o legacy. Its not a big advantage unless you’re on the brink of making it.

you got a pretty good chance at all colleges you listed. Just don’t send in SAT score, send in the ACT b/c it is clearly better

what SAT subject tests are you sending in?

im not sure my ACT is actually better…its actually in the lower range compared to my SATs at most of the schools.

I’m taking Chem, Math II and English this saturday.
I’ll sign up to re-take Chem since I took the class itself online and I’m not sure I will do well. At all. So I’ll retake it next month.

I would send in your SATs

thats what i planned. thanks everyone for the suggestions :)

accepted into CO School of Mines.
that takes the pressure off.
I’m no longer bothering with UF because that was a backup.
and I already got into my out of state backup.
So I’m not even gonna bother.

yay :)

SAT IIs:

Literature- 730
Math II - 760
yay :)

also adding duke to my list and taking off UF
i got into CO School of Mines so i’m into a backup so there’s no point in applying to another.

chance me please
i’ll return the favor :)

applied everywhere.
finding out about emory in a month -same time was NMF.

I think you have a decent chance at JHU + Emory. HYPS + MIT/Caltech/Dartmouth are all very high reaches and the sheer number of overqualified applicants that aim for any of those schools hurts your chances significantly. I would suggest applying to 1-2 out of those 7 schools and choose a few lower reaches.

thanks for the tip
i added duke and vandy to my list
but im still applying everywhere
my parents were fine with paying the app fee,
and hey, you only have a 0% chance when you don’t click “submit”
:)

MY RESULTS (so far, still counting down until april):

-CO School of Mines: accepted (w/ $12,000/year scholarship)
-Emory: accepted (as a semifinalist for scholars competition)
-Rollins: accepted (w/ $25,000 scholarship and I’m one of 45 finalists for 9 full tuition, room, and board scholarships)

still waiting til april :)
